KCs receivers specifically Toney cost them the game, great to see the Lions close the game out though going to be difficult to see Gardner-Johnson go after the season a natural leader and playmaker out there.

Seriously, Hutchinson should have had at least 3 sacks in this game if not for Taylor lining up illegally. For that reason I don't feel bad about Toney possibly having money on the Lions.

after a few games would not surprise me for the lions to give him a new contracy to keep him around. mousley will be gone.

Not to mention the 1/2 second jump Taylor was getting on every passing snap. He seriously should have been called for a false start on nearly half of the passing plays KC ran.
Neither team played their best football, and it was clear both squads were shaking off the rust. However, our defense played a solid game, particularly against the jet sweeps and their running game. I was really surprised by the amount of zone they were playing. Not sure if this was done to try and limit Mahomes' scrambling, but it sure left a lot of open receivers. Thankfully, the KC recievers weren't catching the ball.
Goff appeared to lock in on his target several times, which lead directly to passes getting batted down, and he certainly struggled with the crowd noise. However, he made some clutch throws downfield. If LaPorta can develop into a second security blanket for him, it will either mean a huge year for the rookie or St. Brown will run free more often.
MJJ had possibly the worst game of his career. Interesting note: that was his first fumble lost EVER. 12 years and over 560 touches. He'll bounce back.
Super excited about the contributions of the rookies in this one. Campbells PBU was especially nice, showing great awareness and athleticism to get that deep quickly. He also showed some nastiness while tackling. Branch is gonna be a star. The pick-6 was great, but he also showed the willingness to put his hat on the ball carrier. Gibbs is just plain electric, and surprisingly powerful. On his first run up the sidelines, it initially looked like took a direct blow from the safety. Replays showed he actually delivered the blow. They really need to work him into the passing game much more. Also, he said Barry was his idol, and he tried to emulate his juke moves. He had one run that looked very Barry-esque, where he got completely turned around downfield, stopped his momentum, and then popped out of the fracas for an additional 5 yards. Gonna be fun to watch.
My favorite part of the entire game, though, was letting the offensive line and the run game win the game for us in the 4th quarter. It is so important to be able to run the ball to salt away a victory even when the opposition knows you are gonig to run the ball. Sprinkle in a few clutch passes from Goff to keep drives alive, but just keep punching them in the mouth with the ground game. That's winning football.
Regardless of what happens the rest of the way, one thing is for certain. The Lions are no longer a gimme game on anyone's schedule, and it has been a long time since we've been able to say that. It's gonna be a fun year!

The whole point of having him is the reliability factor, and we weren't able to rely on him at all.
Chark's loss is a net downgrade however you look at it. Our WR core overall is pretty weak.
