Some spin from yesterday-
THE ROOKIES - Tavai and Hockenson look like they can play. Hockenson set the rookie TE record for first game ever with over 130 yards and a touchdown. Saw a stat (Meinke I think) that said Ebron had 240 yards as a rookie and Hockenson is on pace to beat it next week. Really like what that kid brought. Tavai played really well too in the middle and got a sack on Murray. He looked like he was attacking when he should and seemed to know where he needed to be. Ty Johnson had a touch and when he ran, I couldn't stop thinking that he looked like....Darren Sproles. We might have something there too.
THE SECOND YEAR GUYS - Frank Ragnow played a pretty good center. Just about all the pressure came from the edges but AZ didn't get anything through the middle. I thought his run blocking was fine and I like him at center. Tracey Walker came in and made a huge pick early. While he got beat by Larry Fitzgerald late in the game on a big play, he did a nice job for most of the day. Kerryon Johnson had a very quiet day. He had some nice runs to the outside including a 15 yarder that was called back on a hold. Hand didn't play and Crosby might have gone in at tackle if Decker got another penalty.
THE TIMEOUT- I get it, Stafford was pissed. However, clock winding down, everyone running around trying to get set, 3rd and 5, 2:40 left....come on, everyone was yelling "CALL A TIMEOUT", let's get past the Stafford video of "TRUST ME!!!" That probably happens on every NFL sideline 50 times a game. If they convert, it was a great timeout, if they don't take the timeout and Stafford throws a pick, we are eviscerating people for not calling a TO.
TIRED LEGS...Harrison was winded, Flowers was winded, the starters were winded...The only players on the D Line who looked in "game shape" were Okwara (3 sacks), Robinson (3 tackles but chased the play better than he ever has) and Slay (man they aren't going to target him). I know some of these guys had injuries but yesterday was their "preseason" game. My expectation is that their "pitch counts" get eliminated moving forward.
Last, Matt Prater. Thank god for Matt Prater.
