DC I don’t want to get too excited about because I think in the end it’s Matty P’s defense and it goes with what he wants.
I’ve never been a big fan of Davidson. I’ll give him credit, I do think he pieced together a decent year this year, but he’s historically had sub-par offensive lines.

Harry Hiestand is the name to watch for OL coach. Was reportedly Patricia’s first choice when he got the job. Pretty highly regarded guy when it comes to OL.
A total of 8 coaches and assistants have been fired or *cough* have "stepped down"
So these same 8 coaches that have been hired in the past 24 months are all of a sudden not good enough? What team gets rid of 8 fucking coaches off their staff in one off season? Now these people all have to be replaced. Pasquloni is the fall guy here for Matty P's crappy scheme. You need to cut the head off snake and get rid of Qunntricia!

I guess Martha and her Daughter put their foot down. The "Gal's Handed Quinn and Patricia a "Win or Walk" ultimatum.......They also demanded these coaches get fired. I will say this for the Old Gal...She is definitely not afraid to pull the trigger.

So the staff the two bafoons have out together isn't good enough so they must be fired, but its ok to keep Quinntricia?
I think the Lions assistant coaches were at a disadvantage from the gitgo. In 2018, Patricia was either stuck with guys still on Mayhew's staff or guys who were on the street since Patricia wasn't hired until after the Superbowl. Mostly anyone worth a lick was already on a team's staff.
Guess what, this is basically them trying to keep their jobs. And if it works, we all are happy and you look like a miserable fool. Or it fails and you get what you want and they are gone.

While I'm certainly in favor of cutting ties with Pasqualoni and Davidson, I'm also not in favor of clueless ownership meddling and dictating coaching and personnel decisions.
I also agree with badnews that Pasqualoni was likely just a puppet for Matty P. This is his defense. I do worry that Patricia is a control freak and tries to get his hands in too many things.
I don’t mind ownership dictating changes within the staff. After 2 seasons of sub par play and lots of injuries, I think it was pretty clear there needed to be a shake-up.

Yes, but I don't think ownership should be determining if a shake-up is needed. It should be the GM. And if Quinn didn't recognize that than he's probably not the guy for the job.

Eh. Splitting hairs to me. Ultimately they are the bosses and in reality Quinn/Patricia are tied together.
I also think there was going to be movement within the staff regardless of any “mandate”.

WHAT A SHITSHOW!
History will dictate whether the "Iron Fist" of Mrs. Ford will leave a lasting impression of the football franchise known as the Detroit Lions. Plus we get a whole new bunch of Assistant coaches to pick on.
I was kind of surprised with the ST firing. Football Outsiders had the Lions ranked #8.
3 win season
Worst defense in the NFL
One of the worst defenses statistically ever, worst D so far in the 21st century on the NFL.
Too many draft misses
Squandering time, the best QB this team has ever had the Lions wasted the last 2 soon to be 3 seasons while he is in his prime...how looking at a rebuild again
Quinn fires a Caldwell, a winning coach for his beer drinking buddy from NE...but Qunintricia keeps their jobs as long as the DC, special teams coach, OL coach and every other fucking coach get fired. What coach would want to work here in Detroit after that and knowing Quinntricia will be gone next year??? What team does this???? What a joke!!
No real GM or HC will want to come here after the owner makes them clean house to keep their jobs. The Fords just gutted Quinntricias staff.
Need I go on?
I am over reacting? Or just maybe you are under reacting because you have been LIONIZED and you numb

I think Vic is saying they should have blown it up (yet again). I don't necessarily disagree, but I'm also at a point where it is what it is and until the Fords/Firestones sell the team it doesn't really matter what they do. So for now I say keep the Quinntricia carnival going one more year and see what happens.
I thought the first round of coaches let go was pretty weak and looked like they were scapegoats...they should have fired the DC (and OL coach if they wanted) first and then any smaller coaches...Lions cant even fire people right...

I don’t think Vic knows what he’s saying. He just comes in and yells football cliches and makes up stupid nicknames. If you think they should have cleaned house, fine, that’s reasonable. But with Patricia staying, not sure how you complain that they make changes on the staff. It was clearly necessary.
In reality, Vic should be the last person to bitch. For years he’s bitched and complained for the Lions to build a team exactly how Quinn and Patricia have built this team. Big, slow, and determined to run and stop the run.

Eh, I don’t know about Davidson, but I think it was clear what they were doing with Pasqualoni. The guy gave Patricia his first shot and he wouldn’t be here without him, so they let him go on his terms.
The only coach they let go that gave me a real pause was Bonamego. ST had some issues early on, but they cleaned it up and ended up being a good unit.

The only narrative I am not buying is that people are claiming that the owner(s) are responsible for the coaching firings. Has that been confirmed in the media?
Because last I heard Quinn say that all coaching decisions were Patricia's decisions.
Now is it out of the realm that there is a little "circle of trust" that decisions are made on personnel and coaches, probably, but not going to assume this is owner meddling.
