Patricia won't want to hire a DC that can make his own decisions. If he hires anyone at all it will be another puppet he can control.
Unless he realizes his job is on the line and that he cant do it all, so trusts a good DC...could go either way, but it will be obvious by his choice...

Personnel will be a big factor too, I dont see them running another type of defense
A total of 8 coaches and assistants have been fired or *cough* have "stepped down"
So these same 8 coaches that have been hired in the past 24 months are all of a sudden not good enough? What team gets rid of 8 fucking coaches off their staff in one off season? Now these people all have to be replaced. Pasquloni is the fall guy here for Matty P's crappy scheme. You need to cut the head off snake and get rid of Qunntricia!
I guess Martha and her Daughter put their foot down. The "Gal's Handed Quinn and Patricia a "Win or Walk" ultimatum.......They also demanded these coaches get fired. I will say this for the Old Gal...She is definitely not afraid to pull the trigger.
The problem with the Lions has always been player personal. Fans like to blame the coaches but in the end, it's the lack of talent and depth that holds back the Lions.

A bad owner, has a notoriously bad team, cannot attract top tier GM and HC talent.
Look at what ownership did to Patricia's staff. I'm not saying changes didnt need to be made, but the staff is gutted by ownership. Now who would want to come coach here? Quinn and Patricia are nobody's. Not a single HC of the Lions has become HC again in the NFL going back to the 60s.
Look what McCarthy is already doing in Dallas with his staff. The Lions still do not have a DC or special teams coach yet.

They didn’t “gut” the staff, let’s not be dramatic.
And McCarthy is able to move quickly on his staff because coaches generally have their staff mapped out before they hired. It’s usually part of the hiring process when you interview.

That's just the rest of the NFL recognizing that once you've been Lionized, there's no going back. (Although your statement isn't 100% true as Dick Jauron went on to coach the Bills for 4 years after the Lions.)
There was an article today that said that, so they must not have counted interim coaches. Funny, its about the 3rd time in a week that Ive seen an article and within a day Vic is parroting the article with the end is nigh spin on it...

I like when he gets really lazy and just copies and pastes the article as a post with no indication that someone else actually wrote it.
Top notch organization, ran like a well oiled machine from the ownership down to the waterboy.
Who am I to criticize such a jaugernaught of a football franchise? Look at all the success this team has had. How dare I say anything about this team! Everything will be just fine. Like always they will make the right moves and make another deep playoff run.
Jeeeez...I am so negative sometimes, my apologies gentleman. I have no right to even think this team wont do the right thing and have a successful 2020 season.
Who's with me??? Rah rah rah!!!! GO LIONS.....WEEEEEE

Pretty sure you missed the point. Is this another one of those posts where you pasted it from somewhere else?

Its called reading and getting educated
Try it sometimes before you say the same pie in the sky crap and bury your head in the sand while the Lions continue to suck every season.
Go read some articles ... the professional analysts aren't covering thier ears and going "La la la la I Cant Hear You" everything is all good like you fools! We fired the DC...wow awesome...lol

It’s almost like there’s a middle ground between super positive and super negative. You don’t have to be critical of every move made, just like being positive about every move.

There's such a track record and body of work to support such positivity
Secondly, don't act like I am never positive or give praise when its due. That's pure bullshit!

You’re bitching about them firing staff members while also often bitching about players that those staff members are coaching? So what do you want?
I get it. You think Patricia and Quinn should have been fired. They weren’t, so staff changes were without a doubt going to come. Not sure why the massive overreaction to it.

Did you just call me of all people pie in the sky when it comes to the Lions? That’s pretty laughable. I’m generally more down on them then you are.

that's the enthusiasm that would make Jim Harbaugh blush!!

Thinking about the DC. I wonder if they are waiting to hire someone that is on a team in the playoffs or was just eliminated. I'm going to say we're poaching someone from the vikings.

I don't mind it, he was on the staff for the Eagles for the last 5 seasons. The Eagles secondary was not the best this season but they did have a lot of injuries, but they were good for a few seasons.
And before someone comments on being a "friend" of Patricia. They were basically nobodies on the Patriots staff in 2004 (Matt's first year in NE) and Undlin's only year in NE. Doubt they became the best buddies that dumb fans will try to correlate. But he did refer to him as a "good friend" before the Philly game last year. I have said that about people I haven't seen or cared to talk to in 15 years as well.
I am guessing not many wanted the job.

He is friends with Patricia. Patricia himself called him a “good friend”. This isn’t unusual in the NFL, coaching jobs are usually filled with nepotism
Don’t know if it will be good or bad. Patricia’s the DC. If anyone thought they were bringing in some established DC with no connections to Patricia, they weren’t being realistic. You just have to hope he has some of his own ideas and is willing to challenge Patricia on some things.
I actually think the LB and DB coaches are the more interesting hires coming.
