Hey y’all Whats your opinion ? Will Quinn try and fix the dline in free agency as he has tried in the past, and have a wide open draft board. Or will he draft dline. Clowney has a core muscle issue that needs surgery otherwise I would be all in on getting him. I don’t know much about the other dlineman in free agency, and I think the kid from OSU will be gone.
Draft...draft....draft....Lions have a good opportunity to leverage Miami to move up...Here is what I would LOVE to see Quinn do-
Trade #3 to Miami for #5 and #26 and #56.......
Then......you have the Jags, Chargers and Panthers who want to get the 3rd QB because Herbert has shown very well at the Senior Bowl...I'm going to say that Carolina wants him for their own. This could get us #7 this year, #38 this year and a first rounder this year...
Now, the picks-
#7 - Okudah, Simmons or Brown, whoever is there. (Assuming - Burrow, Young, Tua, OL, Herbert/Love, 1 of 3 listed earlier, our pick) #26 - Mekti Bechton - OT from Louisville. Dude could move Decker or Wagner out and Wagner could be a cap casualty #35 - JK Dobbins or Jonathan Taylor - 2 headed running back or maybe 1.5 with KJ being injury prone so far in his career #38 - CB Jaylon Johnson Utah - Dude can play and would be considered a reach but with Okudah could form your future at the position #56- Julian Okwara, Edge from Notre Dame - Can turn the edge and can line up opposite of FLowers. Needs to learn to set the edge but can fly around the corner
3 defense 2 offensive players - a lineman and running back for Bevell to use. 2 corners and an edge rusher for the new DC to play with.
This happens, my pants are gonna need to be changed.

Omar Kelly is a moron. He’s a Dolphins best writer that I would trust for Dolphins info, never mind Lions.
The Lions just restructured Staffrord’s deal, do you think they push money down the road if they’re concerned about his back? Why increase the dead money for this season if they plan on moving him? This also ignores the obvious, you have a coach and a GM that are hanging by a thread, it would make no sense for them to try and save their jobs on the back of a rookie QB.

Yeah the restructure makes it impossible trade/cut ties with Stafford. That said I would still draft Tua at 3 and let him sit for a year or two. But that will never happen either for the reason badnews mentioned. It would take an assurance from Martha that they have at least more than just 2020 to turn it around. And even that, let's face it how long does Martha have?
Bogus or not, that Omar Kelly tweet is great for the Lions though. Best thing they can do is convince the league they are considering a QB at #3.

I think Bart Scott made some shit up. His original argument was that Patricia was gonna trade Stafford to Pats to do Belichick “a favor”.
And Omar Kelly is an idiot.
I’m sure they’ll bring in some QB’s, just like they did last year, but it’s gonna be a tough sell to get teams to buy into them taking a QB given the position Quinn and Patricia are in and the fact they just made him less tradeable this year.
I am totally against taking a WR at #3, but man, I think Jeudy is the real deal and will be an absolute stud in the NFL.
I dunno, I saw him a few times and watched him in the bowl games versus Michigan. Hes not a top 3 overall talent IMHO. He also seems a little fragile. Good player but not what the Lions need. Plus the Lions...we better not dare draft a skilled offensive player here with this defense...ugh.

I don’t know how you can watch the Bowl game and come away with anything but him being a stud.
Part of the reason I question Tua a little is he played with such insane talent at WR. I think he’s a good prospect for sure, but he was throwing to these guys with so much green around them.
Lions reached last year with Mike Daniels coming off injuries. Massive fail on that and it really showed on the DL. With Snacks now gone, A'Shawn Robinson probably gone...Got some big holes there. Need to sign at least 3 DT and a DE. Unless that group is totally retooled...game over. DB production suffered greatly with no pass rush to speak of. So if you don't fix the DL..keeping Slay is ridiculous. Trade him to get more chips. I know there are those who would disagree with that..but no pass rush and run stuff means DB's are going to fail. Build that foundation. LB is also a concern. Need at least 2 linebackers who can pass rush. What looked like strength 2 years ago has basically fallen apart and will not be easy or cheap to fix. Biggest problem is there is no real depth on the Defensive side as a whole. Once the starters went down it was game over and season over.
