Hi Guys, still hanging in there, I see. Bitching about the Lions for all the wrong reasons. You need to realize the NFL is a business that lives for high Nielsen ratings and the advertising dollar. So integrity is sold to attract and maintain the largest following of bandwagoners. Teams with the largest following will get 1 to 3 questionable calls that decide the game. (i.e. Packers and Chiefs game this year). Our poor Lions have as much or more talent than any other team in the NFL with excellent coaching. What they don't have is a large enough market to bring in the maximum advertising dollar.
So there is no amatuer, mad genius, or embarrassment. It is just business entertainment where advertising dollars dictate who wins. At this time, the Lions are not important enough to matter. Could change if they find a charismatic superstar (like Brady, Rodgers, or Mahomes) that can bring in bandwagoners and swing advertising dollars, but I would not hold my breath.
P.S. See you in another couple of months. This shit is not worth caring for, because it is rigged. Once you figure this out, it is easy to walk away. Have fun losing and crying cause it won't stop.

I do agree with the market and popularity thing that may cost the Lions a call here and there and even some games, but the talent and coaching level is NOT there compared to the top teams.

I love how of everything that has gone down with this abysmal organization in the last 60 years, the thing that made liongeezer abandon the team are the officials.
but the talent and coaching level is NOT there compared to the top teams.
It’s not even close. But there will always be the slappies that continue to make excuses. Hell, my dad (who might even be older than geezer) is one of them.
The D...snacks, flowers and slay are/were tops in the league...
So to say they are close talent wise isnt that absurd...
Snacks was not good this year. Sure, Flowers and Slay are nice but most teams have 1 or 2 players that are elite or close to it. All teams also have injuries. Sure, the Lions got hit hard losing their QB but even you admitted they wouldn't have been a playoff team if Stafford played every game.
This team is going nowhere the next few years. They should keep Stafford and draft Tua to start in a year or two. His injury history worries me and he might turn out to be a bust but I don't care. The chance of drafting a potential Mahomes level quarterback doesn't happen very often and this could fall into their laps.

It's the rest of the cast that makes you or breaks you. Most importantly depth.
Of course there are a few key ingredients like solid QB, something to hang your hat of offensively that can put up points, and a defense that can keep offenses guessing and limit scoring.
Sure the Lions have talent, all teams do. But throughout the roster not enough. Also some of the coaching decisions .... how the front office operates, some inconsistency compared to other solid organizations.
I don’t see Tua as the elite prospect he seems to be getting touted as. The talent around him is insane. His WR core and OL would be considered one of the better in the NFL.
Maybe he’ll be the next great QB, but even ignoring the injury stuff, I have some doubts.

It has nothing to do with officiating. It has to do with policy set by Troy Vincent. He can preach integrity all he wants, but actions speak louder than words. Does he fire officials that make horrendous calls, "No". In fact he makes up excuses and says it is just the Same Ol Lions.

Well, I do agree that the officiating overall is bad and there is no accountability, but that is not the reason the Lions organization has been abysmal for 60 years.

And according to the same article, if they lose Snacks and Slay you can multiply 2x1,000. How do you even say that a team is like 2 players away and not offer any insight as to how that might work but you STILL are considered credible and your remarks are somehow print worthy?

Not 100% sure what youre saying, but...if snacks still sucks and slay is traded, yes, the statement/thoughts are no longer valid...i think its just a general statement that they were in every game, despite all the injuries, so really arent that far off with the current roster
This team is a few players away from 2 players away from the playoffs...this draft better be a homerun, meaning, a trade down or a Stafford trade garnering more picks and 85% of those picks being starters or major contributors if this team makes it to the NFC title game. WE still need a RT. Ragnow was out best pick in YEARS. We need another pick like that, but we also know that we have a serviceable backup at least in Driskel and if Stafford is traded and we draft Tua well then it's a longshot we make the playoffs with a rookie. So right now, unless something major happens, this team is solid, but nothing to write home about just yet.
We can't trade Stafford and we can't cut Wagner, the money says so. Next year is a completely different situation though. I'm also hoping for a trade down.
It would be nice to have a season where we didn't have half the team miss multiple games, it is amazing the results when your starters play in all the games. But keep shitting on the players and coaches we have. I know I am on an island, but I am also right.
