This is really starting to look like a real mess. Seriously a real mess. If Stafford and the Rams totally collapse the Lions can look forward to another high draft choice. But looking at this defense, it's pretty ugly.. Seriously ugly. Matt Rhule got broomed today. Dan Campbell experiment might be on thinner ice too.

rams will turn it around.no ones running away with that division. their OL and run defense need shoring up. Lions showed fools gold early. yesterday was an awakening on what we can expect going forward now t hat teams have enough film to gme plan johnsons offense. hes young and how he adjusts will be crucial. our D is pathetic. we need the offense to run on all cylinders to keep us in games.
Look at the Philly game, Philly ia 5-0 and the only undefeated team.
When healthy this team looked decent, sure the defense was suspect.
Holmes has to figure that out and get the defense some help. But let's not get too crazy!
Yeah Vic. Too many injuries. Not sure if they are practicing too hard but Swift needs to be in there. Tracy Walker going down hurt. Our defensive secondary is decimated. We need St Brown 100 percent. Ragnow has had lingering issues. Hutch is hobbled. Just too many...
... and I still stand by my bias of refs always using flags on questionable calls and Pivotal moments. Total momentum breaker calls almost precisely picked at the most crucial times it seems ... Reminiscient of megatrons process of the catch call. There is just so many tough breaks and we are too used to it... BUT we almost beat Philly, should have beat SF and Seattle, now it's like a moral defeat like other years but we need this bye and a Dallas win coming out fresh could be clutch for moral

Not sure how you can lump Swift and Cephus into Brad Holmes as they were drafted before he got here.
As for the rookies, there is really only Williams and Paschal that haven't contributed yet. And Paschal has been cleared to play and should be ready by Dallas. Not sure you can blame much, they took guys that look really talented. Just missing a few games their rookie seasons, to potentially be long term contributors is not something I worry about. Not sure what the deal is with Onwuzurike, that looks like a bad pick right now. Granted he did play the entire season his rookie year.
Just look around the league, there are a ton of rookies and young guys injured around the league. And a lot that are contributing, just like the Lions.
I still think they have drafted enough guys that have been contributors to this team, to say they drafted poorly is just wrong. Free agency is where Holmes has failed unless the ultimate plan was to get out of cap hell and then move forward from there, which is what they seem to be doing, I hope anyways.
I just don't understand how this team has a roster that seems to be the most banged up in the NFL every season. I am sure the lack of talent and depth allows injuries to impact the outcomes more than most teams.
Holmes has had some good drafts...a few misses, but overall pretty good especially having found late round value in the last two drafts. When has a Lions GM done that in recent history?
I still say the Lions GMs don't look at a players health enough in the evaluation process.

A lot of injuries are just random and bad luck. Ragnow and Decker had zero injury issues in college but have had them in pros. Walker had no injury issues in college. Swift had no issues with injuries in college.
I think they missed something on Levi and deserve criticism for that. I also wonder why so many guys are getting hurt in mid week practices. Overall though, injuries are bad luck.

Teams have had a chance to study the Lions Defense, their tendencies...And in the NFL they will pounce on any weakness and exploit it. So, teams have exploited the Lions Defense and teams are able to run on the lions then hit pass plays downfield almost at will. Maybe Paschal will help....but it looks bleak. Until they stop the run this defense will suck. Almost Dead last against the run
