If Paschel continues to show the promise he did this week, and Hutchinson has the kind of career we think he will ...
... this will be a highly competitive team shortly.
And I'm the last one to beat the "just be patient drum."
When you factor in Jackson and Okuda from 2020, that's three solid drafts in a row. Unless the next two are just completely tanked, that's all you need to build a playoff team. Two solid starters per draft and a contributor here and there with at least a few pro bowlers.
We're still on the right track. Grin and bear it. We've managed to survive this far.

Iterior of the D-line is a mess. And we could use some help at Safety and CB. As bad as Goff has looked these past few weeks, keep in mind we'd have a winning record right now if the defense was just a little better. Like a nose hair better.
I'm not underestimating this team's ability to screw things up, but it's going to be really hard with that young nucleus. I even think Mayhew could patch enough of these holes in an offseason to be a playoff team. Just a few middle of the road starters and a role player or two.
The roster is one thing. Seems like one week the offense is going the defense shifts the bed, the next the defense gets going the offense collapses. Let's see if the coaches can out it all together. Have defenses figured out Ben Johnson? Has the magic run out there?
Holmes for some of his shortcomings he seems to have hit more then missed and found some really good late round gems so far. To draft three defensive starters, we get a taste of Williamson later this season, this could be the makings of a really really good draft. if the team tanks and we draft #1 again next year, I won't be too hurt over that. We are looking at a 5 year process matter what we would like to see especially if Goff needs to be replaced.
Defense played well, looks like AG working more with that secondary really helped.
Campbell seems to be on top of identifying what needs fixing and making the right moves to do it. I just worry that it takes him too long to react. Seems to be a pattern of "Something sucks. Wait too long for it not to suck. Step in to fix when it's too late."

Needs to be balanced with give things a chance to work. Also you don't want a reputation as a HC that fires ppl as scapegoats.
AG is friends with Pleasant and was obviously bothered by the firing. I am sure DC had to weigh that out as well and had AP telling him things were going as planned the whole time.
It appears both moves DC made with the staff were the right ones.

Playing devil's advocate, I think it's better to be the guy who rewards based on merit, rather than draft position, nepotism or loyalty to friends. I think he's clearly established that the opportunity goes to the guy who's hungrier and shows the ability to get the job done. Whether that be players or coaches. And I think he earns respect being that guy above all else.

The 2022 draft class just keeps delivering.
Could we be looking at five starters (or starting-caliber players) in one draft?
Hypothetically speaking, Williams would make 6, which is a near statistical improbability. Until you consider that our history of bad drafting up to this point was also a near statistical improbably.
Holmes just killing it.

Curious, who are your 5? You have Hutchinson, Paschal, Joseph, Rodrigo (Williams would make 5).

Even "solid contributor" is one hell of a grab in the 5th/6th rounds.
Definitely. Have to see more than 1 game though - why was he on practice squad to this point?
What usually happens to 6th rounders from FCS, I guess. More experienced/higher-drafted guys already on the roster. Can be redshirted on the PS with minimal risk.

Other than getting poached by another team (which none of the 31 other teams did in 10 weeks). Although I think they can protect some players now so not sure if that was the case here.

Not sure what your point is, but not disagreeing. lol
