Giving up 570 total yards of offense with historic rushing yards to the 30th ranked offense in the NFL is unbelievable. Must have been a lot of people that lost money on the Lions today.
Only in fucking fairy tales!

The way this team has played on the road the past two weeks shows me even if they manage to back into a playoff spot, it will certainly be a one and done.
A lot of inexperience, especially on D, hitting a wall.
I wouldn't over-react. This was bound to happen. Damn near impossible to maintain that level of intensity they've been bringing for 9 straight games, even if they had experience in their favor.
Yep. I had people I barely know approaching me about the Lions this week asking me if they were for real and my response was always the same - it's been fun but they're not a playoff team. Even the slappies on this board fell for it. There is no way they were winning the last 4 games with 3 on the road.

Winning 8 or 9 games is a real improvement. Reality says some beefing up of the Defense is sorely needed, just look at the numbers. So, if they Lions continue to draft wisely and don't sell the farm on some stupid FA signings. In a couple of years, we may see a real playoff team here in Motown.
As bad as the defense was, this game was yet another example why Goff is not the long-term answer.
And right on queue.
Do you disagree? Sure, Goff is fine. Maybe you can even win a playoff game or two with him if everything is wrapped up in a nice little box for him. In today's NFL you need more than that.
Just got home from wine tasting on a beautiful 60 degree sunny california day and just watched this abortion...wow...ok, some thoughts...
Saw someone say something about people asking if lions were for real...i think deep down we all knew this team has holes (cough cough** defense **cough), recent sucess or not...i dont think this game alone says anything, the fact is, this team has improved and is being built for the long term the right way...so from that perspective, yes, they are for real...if anyone was thinking superbowl, well, thats just stupid and uninformed. They are, at best, a 1 win playoff team, and that would only be if they got to play minny and even then 50/50...
Saw someone say something really stupid about this game showing goff isnt a long term solution...wtf? Did you watch the game? Did you see 300 yds rushing, 550 yds total and 37 pts given up to one of the bottom offenses in the nfl? And goff comes out of your mouthp? Might be one of the dumbest comments ive seen in a long time
So what did we learn? Well, i dont know if we just learned it, but it was certainly a great reminder that this defense is still a huge liability. I mean this was just embarrasing and even letting zach wilson get 250 and score 17 last week should have been a huge warning flag. This D needs beef up the middle...DT, LB and S...prove me wrong. Folks talking taking a DE in the drsft, blah blah blah, stupid...plenty of edge rushers on this team, need the beef if the middle, period.
Winning december football needs to stop the run, first and formost...you can win scoring 20, 17, etc in december, but not when the other team is running down your throat.
I want the luons to make the playoffs, i really do. Not because im deluded and think they can run the table, but because i think they need that taste. They need to see the intensity difference. They need to get that exposure so they can grow up a little next year.
Oh, and to those sucking their own dicks about, oh, i knew they couldnt win out, blah blah blah...just go swallow your load in private...no one gives a fuck you were right...most of you predict losses every week so youre not exactly nostradamus'...of course its unlikely they wete going 10 of 11 or whatever, but its been a fun ride...and its still not over...none of us expect superbowl and id venture most of us are unsure if they will make the playoffs because we know this is still a building team that is about the same quality as every other team in the hunt, so please quit acting like you know anything....

That's a fair point. As a personal rule I don't bet on Lions games, because it's too boring being entirely analytical and realistic with them. They've had a great run, but at some point they were going to come back down to Earth. The sheer amount of running yards allowed makes me wonder about that game plan and prep though.

Nothing about that is surprising.
Really? Lions have played the best rushing offenses in the League all season and shut down quite a few of them. You call this not surprising? I have to question your reality BB. A good football team getting beat like this by a weak offense only happens in evil fairy tales.

You said the same thing about Stafford!! Goodness gracious BB you are lashing out at everyone and everything.

Even if this were the case, it's not exactly my takeaway for this particular game

Yeah, Goff has his clear issues, but he was pretty low on the list of issues yesterday.

That's fair, and I don't disagree. Just adding to the dialogue...it's pretty obvious how bad the defense was. I don't know in my 40+ years of watching football if I've ever seen holes that big as consistently as that in the running game. Even given that, am I not allowed to point out how bad Goff's pocket presence is? Even my buddy who was watching the game with me who is much more of a Goff supporter than I am was going crazy at his complete lack of interest/desire of stepping into the pocket. There were at least a few plays he could have extended if he just stepped into the pocket and maybe made something happen to change the game early.

I had a bigger issue with the staring down targets, which contributed to some of the batted passes(he has a long delivery, too)and just being a little slow through his progressions. That’s always going to kind of be his issue, he plays well within the first or second read with a clean pocket. Wasn’t a lot of that yesterday, Panthers schemed well, and to be honest, I think offense kind laid down after that fumble and going down 21-7.
That said, it’s hard for Goff to even register on the list of issues with that defensive performance. I don’t think Mahomes is turning the game with that shitshow. Not sure I can remember a team just repeatedly beat with the same thing so many times.

Even if I were going to pick on the offense, that shit show of a running game would top my list. The o-line is too talented. Receiving options to open things up. No real excuse for this.

All week-long Decker was complaining about Pro-Bowl snubs and thinking what they didn't get. Well, this is a prove-it league and the Panthers nobody D-line stuffed the Lions run game completely. Getting your ass handed to you for a hat makes a big statement how good you are.

Need to mix it up in the run game a little more. Jamal doesn’t look to have the same juice he did earlier in the season and teams seem to be sitting on the run with him in there. Even concepts seem to be stagnant with him. Unfortunately Swift still seems scared of contact.
Other thing might be a little bit of simplifying some things in run game. Johnson has some great design, but sometimes it feels like so many moving parts at times.

Have to agree Badnews, Lions were stale. Not to make excuses, but the weather forcing the Lions to leave 1 day early, in the middle of preparations, during a short week, had to disrupt game planning to some extent. I also think the NFL schedulers fucked the Lions something fierce by making them play 3 away games out of their last 4, all outside in the months of December and January. Cold zaps energy especially week after week.
