My guess…
Guys that feel like locks- Jamal back on another 2 year deal. Cominsky back on 2-3 year deal. Buggs 1-2 year deal.
Close to a lock- Anzalone 2 year deal
50/50- Chark Board Moore Woods
Probably not- Hughes Jackson Harris Skipper Sudfield
Gone- Amani Bryant Badgley
I think Elliot and Brown are gone because they played well enough to get contracts that don’t make sense for Lions, but I’d guess Lions would like to keep them.
I think all the exclusive rights guys get offers, don’t think so on restricted FA’s.

Elliot, Cominsky, Brown, Chark would be my priorities (in that order). Love Williams the player but don't want to pay for this year's production. Main reason to bring Chark back is that he's still on the books next year no matter what (still baffled by that move).

Brown and Wright for sure.
If you think Walker and Williams will be ready to play at a high level next season, then Elliot and Chark are expendable, unless you can get them for good value, and can't land decent depth in the draft at their positions. Which goes for pretty much everyone else on that list as well.

Elliot - 3 decent safeties Buggs/Cominsky - Good role players on a d Line that came alive later in the season Anzalone - I would give him a 2 year deal Williams - not a lot of tread, a 3 year deal Chark - 2 year deal (Chark, Jameson, Reynold, Raymond, St. Brown) that's a good receiving corps
Cuts - Brockers, Vitai, Harris (unless he takes a discounted salary to stay) That gets you to $47M and 5 picks in top 85 is going to cost you $12Mish (don't over research it, it's close) and you have $35M to spend. Restructure Ragnow/Decker and it gives you more money.
NEEDS: CB (maybe 2), RG, LB, DE, DT (What is Ownzurike?), TE, Backup G/T, K
Love the culture and maybe some players will want to come here. Up to current players to sell the culture to others.

Problem with Brown is, you’re going to have to pay Jonah after this season or this off-season and Brown has probably earned a decent contract. Unless his market won’t be strong, which I doubt, hard to see it.
I think he's as overrated as Brown is underrated. Ragnow and the two tackles are the pillars. Vatai was actually developing in to something special at Guard, and his dead cap figure is already about $6 mil-ish for 2023, market value decreasing and has shown willingness to restructure.
Disclaimer: I'm an idiot when it comes to all the cap stuff so I'm mostly talking out of my ass with the exception of my talent evaluation.

Are we sure Jonah is the longterm answer? I feel like he regressed a bit this year. Also, they've already got a lot of money tied up on the line, plus Sewell in a couple years (although maybe Decker's gone by then).

Yes. Jonah does things they can’t easily replace. The stuff they do with him pulling and getting him in space are not going to be easily replaced. I like Brown, he can play 2 spots and is solid, but he’s doing anything you can’t find at a lower price tag than it will likely cost to sign him.
Lions don’t have to do anything with Sewell until after ‘24 season which is same year Decker’s deal is up and Ragnow’s is up in ‘25.

Eh, Brown is replaceable to me. He’s a solid player and I’d love to keep him, but he’s not giving you anything dynamic. The staff was ready to plug Tommy Kraemer in at RG ahead of him before he got hurt and it wouldn’t shock me if he’s in the mix again next year.
I was excited to see Vaitai this year, but have to wonder what you’re going to get or if he’ll even keep playing, gonna be 30 and coming off back surgery.

They were hesitant to move Brown to guard because Ragnow's been playing hurt, and center isn't as exactly "plug and play." Brown goes down and you're kinda' fucked.
Vatai's obviously a huge question mark, but he brings so much athleticism for his size that he creates matchup problems when you line him up next to Sewell (that's a combo that's greater than the sum of it's parts). You can't exactly say Jackson or Brown and "matchup problem" in the same sentence. Even if they're younger and more consistent. Who even knows, though, right?

in my opinion get 3 or 4 years out of an OL then draft his replacement. our OL was touted as one of the best but they were rarely on the field together.so get what we can from an OL after a few years.

If Vaitai is good to go, I’d be more than happy with that. I’m just not sure if he will be and I think they’d have to look at his contract.

Cominsky’s Instagram post. Pretty clear where he stands. Cool to see how badly someone wants to be in Detroit and how much his teammates want him back. Good sign of what’s being built.

I think the lions are going to draft Breese from Clemson so you may see one of the DT's (buggs/comnsky) slip away. I'm not sure I would offer Chark again, I mean bring him back for 1/2 our cap space (27 projected Chark will command 10-12M)? I don't know if I'm behind that and I think Jamo takes his place... but you need depth.. just how much do you pay for it, because when Saint comes up in a few years (2) you're gonna have to pay him north of 15Mil/year.... I think you have to Trust Holmes to build through the draft and acquire mid level FA's. I don't see a big splash signing, it's not in his plan.

Brian Bresee should go back to school. He is at best (developmental prospect), a 3rd or 4th round draft pick who plays the 3-tech position. We already have Onwuzurike who is better. Hopefully he comes back from back surgery a healthy man. If the Lions do select a DT, it will be someone with girth to anchor the middle against double teams and play the run. Players like Mazi Smith or Siaki Ika in the 2nd or 3rd round. It takes 2 bulldozers and a dump truck to move these guys out of the middle of the field.
Chark, he gone. Sorry, I'm not paying him 900K for every game he plays in, esp when he caught 0, 1 or 2 in 5 of the 11 games. We had one of the top O's in the league with him and Williams riding the pines and Williams is coming back.
