Funny, i was with casual nfl fans and said the same thing. They were all shocked at such a concept. I then said it cone from years of watching the lions get dicked over...one guy starts arguing with me that it wasnt true and just because the lions were bad 🤣
Brought up the calvin johnson rule...crickets. showed the dallas playoff phantom flag, crickets...lol

Lions have been fucked a 1000 ways by the refs in the last 50 years. It got to the point where people started caring because the NFL would do it to their team and they did not like it. Eg. the Rams against Saints pass interference in 2018 playoff. Horrible no call against the Saints. Saints were the better team, but the NFL wanted the Rams to win to get a West coast and East coast matchup for the Super Bowl.

I am not sure people outside Detroit Football can comprehend the officiating travesties. In addition to your list...Trey Flowers with a slew of penalties against Rodgers during GB last drive. Golden Tate beating the Falcons, TD called, only to be reversed and run out of the clock to end game, a million phantom holding or PI calls at precise moments. Replacement refs giving Tennessee an extra 12 yards in OT after Tullochs helmet to helmet personal foul, thus making a FG possible. I have no idea how they got away with that. Suh pulling Marion Barber down by his hair, they called horse collar. the Willie Young forced fumble on Brees, picked up Durant I think back in the day for a TD, but was called back and spotted at the spot of the fumble. Like really? Schwartz wanted to review a long TD run against the Lions. It was not a challenge-able play in OT, it was an automatic review, so the Lions were penalized instead. In 2013, the NFL realized how idiotic the ruling was and decided to create the “Jim Schwartz Rule." How about Seattle knocking the ball out of bounds intentionally? Should have been Lions ball at the one, but the Dallas one was the most ridiculous shit ever
Ford bought a newspaper back in the day. He was an anti-semite. After some research check this out. Is this why the Lions have been doomed? He talked shiz about the Jews?
Another bullshit defense holding call, gave KC the game.
Bradberry even admitted it was holding. That said, let them play in that situation.
Yeah, it’s probably holding by the definition. Which is why this is such an issue with refs, way too many rules that muddy waters. Problem is, I guarantee you can find multiple instances of similar plays, some probably worse, that went uncalled. So to call in that spot is tough. But this is the monster the NFL created by putting these rules in.

NFL definitely manages outcomes. Obviously every game isn't scripted like the diversionary bs that has been all the talk lately, but they almost certainly influence outcomes of certain games.
Last year's SB was the same. Refs swallowed their whistles all game long until the Rams final drive, then all of the sudden there multiple penalties against the Bengals that made Stafford's game winning drive possible. LA teams have a huge market. Really benefits the league for them to win.
KC with Mahomes & Reid are the State Farm spokesteam ffs. It does much better for league sponsors if KC wins.

Did the refs give up a 30 yard scramble by Mahomes? Did the refs let McKinnon just walk into the end zone only for him to do the right thing and take a knee before the goal line? Did the refs cause Hurts to fumble the ball and the Chiefs defense to pick up the ball and score?
I blame the refs as much as anyone (for consistency) but to put it all on that one play is just dumb. Not sure why people think the NFL wanted the Chiefs win the games so much, I am guessing people who probably lost a wager placed on the other team...but no it was the refs! LOL!
e game was a tale of two halves, Philly was great in the first half, KC had it dialed on after half time.
I don't think anyone is putting the game on one play. But the ticky tack call dictated the outcome of the game. Philly had a tremendous amount of offensive production in the game. It was a shame the refs took away any opportunity with that questionable call to have potentially great ending to a great game. Let them sort it out on the field, not with the yellow flag. The pass wasn't even catchable.
The issue I have is when the flag is thrown, it was thrown after the pass hits the ground and is incomplete; not when the little hold happens 4-5 seconds prior. This wreaks!

Agree with vic.
I dont believe that was egregious enough foul to all but end the game in that moment. Maybe philly gets the ball and cant move, maybe they tie and go to ot and chiefs still win, maybe they get a td and win...all i know is they hadnt called that all day and that wasnt the place to call it. Instead of having a classic superbowl and people talking about a great game, we are left with this, people talking the refs...sad....nfl is going to have an integrity problem soon...
having a classic superbowl and people talking about a great gam
It was a great game. I won't blame one play for it not being a great game in which there was an actual penalty. Like I said, don't allow the Mahomes run, don't fumble for a TD, then you don't have to worry about the refs.

I think that is just the delay between when the ref saw the hold and the time it took to reach down, grab the flag and throw it. In real speed that flag was thrown about 3 seconds after I saw the hold.
There's an old adage. Let them play. It's the biggest game of the year. Let the players decide it. It was ticky tack and I'm not sure the ball was even playable. It just is not the place to call a penalty like that imo

see, that call ruined the game to me...those other plays made it a great game to that point, but having the refs finalize the score on a hold that had no impact (ball was 10 yds overthrown, that hold did not impact that play) ruined it for me...just another ref fuck up in a league getting known for it...still think of dallas lions platoff game and saints rams playoff games as teams getting screwed...oh, and cincy the game before sb....nah, the favoritism is real...

I don't buy that the NFL cares who wins a given Super Bowl...they just want a good, close game. If anything, that call hurt them financially because without the call the game likely goes to OT.
I do however believe as long as there is a human element to the officiating there will always be biases (whether the officials are consciously aware of it or not).
