It's time for him to start. Don't give me Craig Reynolds who I like. We drafted this kid 12th. If he can't get 30ish touches why did we draft him so high. Don't give me the blocking thing. It's time to learn. Run him ragged IDGAF. His time is now. 13 touches last week or whatever is retarded. Play your horses. Reynold or bam in short yardage ok whatever but let's see Gibbs be the number one guy. BIJAN VS. GIBBS. 30 touches. Let's goooo. That is all
maybe we can trade a pick to the eagles for ... oh wait, never mind. LOL
Give Swift a couple of weeks. He will develop a nagging something. Great player when he can....will get out onto the field. But that wasn't a lot here and I suspect it won't change in Philly.

I think Gibbs has already shown better potential than Swift. Even putting the injury stuff aside, Swift had poor vision and didn't fight for the extra yards like Gibbs does. I saw some crazy number that like 140 yards of Swift's 175 yards were before contact.

I think Gibbs has potential, but I think its a bit early to say that just yet

Perhaps, but did Swift ever show the push that Gibbs has shown? Swift was a good receiver and was a "give me an opening and I will take it" type of back but never showed an ability to create yards on his own.
Maybe with a healthy Montgomery but we don't have that luxury right now. Gibbs needs to start. Keep him on par with BIJAN who looks to be a flipping stud. Keep Gibbs in. 25 touches minimum due to our situation. He needs to break loose. I hope McDc is thinking along those lines

Give Gibbs 25 touches and you'll be bitching about his durability just like you did with Swift.

You give him 400 touches over the course of a season and he’s not going to be any good for you when it matters. There’s a handful of guys that can handle that kind of workload.

A handful? The last time a RB had 400 touches in a season was Christian McCaffrey in 2019. And he hasn't been consistently healthy since then.

Derrick Henry had over 400 in 2020 and just shy of 400 in 2022. There’s a couple other guys that came close. Like I said a handful.

I am going to say total BS on that, Swift would make cuts to get more yards all the time, he avoided contact which is what he supposed to do

Henry had 397 in 2020 and 382 in 2022. Surprisingly Henry has never had 400 touches. McCaffrey was the last one in 2019 with 403 and only him, Le'Veon Bell & DeMarco Murray have hit that since 2010. It's no coincidence none of those guys were ever the same after that.

My bad, was looking at Henry’s targets, but point stands we’re talking a couple touches a game difference and only a few guys, over the last few seasons that have been in that range and and could consistently handle 20-25 touches a game for a full season without breaking down. And as you pointed out, it does its damage long term.
Though to be fair, CMac had almost over 1800 yards last season and Henry was just shy of 2000 in ‘22. Still there’s a certain number of touches these guys can handle before breaking down(Adrian Peterson aside) and Gibbs definitely isn’t a guy I’m trying to wear out in year 3 with 1100-1200 touches at that point. Gibbs needs to go along same lines as Ekeler and Kamara.

We're basically agreeing...I'm just saying in this day and age even saying a "handful" of guys can handle 400 touches is probably overstating it. We might never see a 400 touch guy ever again, and the average touches per player will probably continue to go down. And that is even with the extra game now.
I didn't mean to give him that many touches every game for the rest of his life I just meant through the course of this David Montgomery injury situation 25ish to 30 touches is good for Gibbs right now if David Montgomery isn't 100%

Yeah, we’ve always been on same page on Gibbs.
I mean it’s semantics. A handful to me is 4-5 backs. Josh Jacobs was 7 touches shy last year. McCaffery is on that kind of pace now. I’ll be interested to see how Atlanta handles Bijan going forward. Smith was with Henry in Tennessee.

I actually think they lack creativity some with Gibbs. With Montgomery in it definitely feels like there’s tendencies, especially with down and distance. I get it, Montgomery has been good on first down and they love to just get to 3rd and manageable, but be nice to see them mix in Gibbs on 1st down to shake the balance of the D. Like to see some different routes. Everything feels like it’s to the flat or angle.
Definitely nit-picking, especially with Johnson, but it definitely feels like the offense hasn’t really clicked the way they’re capable of yet.
