Another game the D is going to take most of the heat and offense will get off easier than they should probably. The D for 2 quarters was as bad as it’s been all season, but they also gave the offense 2 short fields on turnovers. When the Lions went up 21-0. The D forced a punt on 3 of the next 4 drives. The offense managed a FG on the next 4 drives.
The offense scored 6 points from 7 minutes into the game until the start of the 4th quarter and the TD they scored came after the D recovered a fumble and gave them the ball on NO 26.
The D definitely scares me and I trust them less, but for the supposed strength of the team, the offense has been disappointing the last few weeks.

while I hear you, and don't necessarily disagree...I don't fully agree. The only thing stopping the opposing offense is the opposing offense. Drops, overthrown, etc...and those are self inflicted, not tight D causing miscues. I agree the O has not been where they should be, but outside of run D, this defense is so very pourous...

I think the D did a pretty strong job of stopping them in the first half yesterday. Saints had 7 points and I don’t think they even had positive yardage until the 2nd quarter. I think when it goes bad with the D it just looks terrible and it stands out more. The offense came out great for a half a quarter, but then went on to score 12 points for almost an entire game and needed a defensive turnover with the ball on the NO 25 to get them their only other TD. The D gave them the chance to put that game away early.
As much as the D scares me, and it’s plenty. It’s the offense playing the way it has the last 3 weeks that could make them a one and done playoff team.

We were always taught when playing zone defense, you covered any man coming into your zone. If there was an overload in the zone, you had assignments for short, middle and deep coverage. When the Lions run zone defense, it looks like everyone runs to a spot, turns around and just stares at the QB, paying no attention whatever to any receivers in their area. That style of zone D makes sense against a running QB like Fields, but against Carr?? Our version of zone defense looks a lot more like prevent D than any zone defense I've ever been taught.

Are you sure zone defense is what you're seeing and not just terrible man coverage? I haven't re-watched this one but I know most of the breakdowns against GB was from man coverage.
