Hopefully he still plays with that heart. I think he will. He loves Coach and these players. He knows the system. JAMO needs to get hooked the F up early and OFTEN> Welp, it's now or never. Hooker is nice insurance too

I'm happy for him. Glad he'll be around a few more years.
I remember back in the old days on the old forum how I posted about how bad I wish we could draft Goff. We obviously had no chance to draft him back then but I was stoked when we traded for him. Really happy it's worked out for us.

I get Goff has earned his keep but it'd be very interesting to know what we have in Hooker too. A good problem to have but something tells me Hooker is pretty damn good. He needs to understudy like Aaron Rodgers and learn the O like a mofo
I saw one report that they tore up the old contract so if true some of that guaranteed money could be spillover from that.
not sure, I keep hearing the word extension so that makes me think extension, not new contract...
I’m think it will come down to new guarantees. It is possible if the agent is the one that leaked it, which is most likely, he’s gonna paint it in most positive light. That 170 may include part of the money from this years salary. Over the cap actually uses a table for new guaranteed money on extensions.

Still doesn't really tell the story. What are the cap hits each year and when is the first reasonable out? Hooker will be the same age as Goff is now (and off his rookie deal) when that deal expires!

Considering you’re spreading a 73 million signing bonus over 4 and the 57 million option year, I’d guess it will look favorable.
And as someone who liked Hooker coming out of that draft. People are putting too much stock in him. With this contract he’s a possible cheap high end back-up, valuable trade chip, and possible successor Goff in 3 years and QB for next 7-10 after because with the way the league is set up now, QB play is solid at worst into mid to late 30’s

I am not even factoring in Hooker into any part of the Lions future unless Goff can't play for whatever reason. Not sure why people are always so obsessed with the backup QB.
As for Goff's contract. Sounds like based on how it might be construed, he will never be more than 16-18% of the cap, if the cap expands as expected over the next 3-4 years. But I guess we will see when the deets come out.

Interesting how much they are backloading it. No idea if my math is right, but think it would drop his cap hit to 15 this year. Not really in need of cap space this year. I know it rolls over, but wonder if there’s some curveballs on back end of contract.

54 in ‘27 will probably be like a low to mid 40 hit percentage wise now with the way the cap is going up. That 69.6 in 26, though. That’s a wild one. No way they don’t have some type of void or options in there to lower that.
