seems Goff was holding the ball a lot longer than normal. then he gets antsy and throws a bad pass. 7 trips to the red zone though. its working just need to clean up things. need to look for a legit #3 reciever. that will go a long way to solving things.
I am officially concerned about the offensive execution and Goff.
Should have resigned Reynolds. I think this hurts more than most think.
If Jamo or ARSB go down we are fucked.
As frustrating as Goff and the play calling was. 7 trips to the red zone shows the offense can still move the ball. I feel like they’ll figure it out.
Actually I'm more concerned with Ben Johnson's scheme and his lack of adjustments at this point than anything. 25 of 37 offensive plays (68%) in shotgun formation in the first half, 33 of 47 (70%) in the second half. What the hell are we doing in shotgun formation 70% of the time?? Goff is at his best when we are running the ball and using play action passing. In other words...when Goff is under center. Just a really terrible game plan imo.

Lions used the same formula that got them two wins against Tampa last year. I find that lack of adjusting to their game plan the main issue. It was pretty obvious that running the ball was working (which it didn't last year). And yet they still attempted twice as many passes as runs in the game.

The only thing I can think of is historically Bowles has blitzed heavy against Goff and being in shotgun would give Goff more time and better pre-snap look.
Problem is, they didn’t seem to blitz as often as they have in the past and they stayed with that game plan. Was frustrating overall. Offense just seemed disjointed. I can’t understand the lack of run game, especially when Vea went out. And then attacking with outside zone instead of going with more power heavy concepts with no Vea.
There’s enough track record with Johnson and the staff that I think they’ll self scout and figure it out, but felt like they married themselves to a game plan yesterday.
The real crime of the whole shitty offensive game plan was that ALL we should be talking about today is Hutch's amazing day. The offense was worse than Hutch was great.
Tristan Wirfs is gonna be seeing Hutch in his nightmares for the rest of his life.

I don’t know how many times he lined up against Wirfs, but I’m pretty sure none of Hutchinson’s sacks came against him. He beat up on that back-up RT that for some reason they left on an island for way too long.

Buccaneers beat long odds. During their win over the Lions, the Bucs got outgained by 247 yards and the Lions had five more sacks than Tampa Bay. According to NFL.com, that makes the Bucs just the second team since 1970 to win a game where they were outgained by at least 200 yards while also having five fewer sacks than the other team. The only other time that's happened came in 1987 when the Oilers beat the Bengals.
It should also be noted that the Lions were historically bad int he red zone. Detroit got inside of Tampa Bay's 20-yard line a total of seven times in the game, but the Lions were only able to score one touchdown. According to ESPN, it was the first time since 1981 that the Lions had at least six red zone possessions without a TD.

Yup
They sat is zone all game long with the exception of the long pass to Jamo. The Lions should have ran on them more, but they Bucs D in the second half did a good job when the Lions tried to run. Goff needed to execute better, there were open guys he was just having a bad day passing. His QBR is horrible last 2 games. Yes i am concerned, hate to say it.

He’s gotten shaken by pressure the last 2 weeks. Something that he had seemed to be better with over the last season and a half. He’s throwing with bad footwork, pre-determining routes, and panicking at the hint of pressure. Don’t know what they did to solve that before, but they need to work back to it. Running the ball would go a long way.

What a shit show. I blame Ben. Best OL in the game and stacked to the max in offensive weapons. This offense should be putting up record numbers on a weekly basis. Of course, there's another team and I'm not saying the Bucs were bums. They're far too well coached...and it showed. I wasn't expecting a blowout, but I did expect a fairly easy win.
Goff is Goff. He's not the kind that is going to elevate his team and carry the load on his own. He's a very stable QB that is prone to becoming rattled and maybe even a little hasty when the chips are down. He doesn't possess the exciting playmaking ability that some of the top QB's in the league have, but I'll say this. This Lions offense is a helluva lot better stacked than the offense Trent Dilfer had and won a Super Bowl with.
This one is on Ben...which is good news. They'll rebound and get their wheels back underneath them.

I feel like BJohnson made his mind up to pass heavy due to injuries in TBs def backfield. When it wasn't working like he thought he SHOULD have adjusted but he kept at it. Like forcing a square peg into a round hole...D Mo could have settled everyone down here and there and set up play action pass which is their bread and butter especially deep to Jamo or whatever. The game plan wasn't fluid to the reality of the situation. My take anyways. They also went away from Jamo to try and force AMSB some passes. AMSB is about the best number 2 in the league but not sure he's a natural #1. He runs a lot of underneath stuff. Critical but there was stubbornness on the play calling. Forcing shit

The botched FG attempt before the half lost it. They get a FG there they kick one later instead of needing a TD. Pro teams usually don't do dumb shit like that. Spike the ball then get Be ates out there. Someone either had the wrong down or why not just call Time out? We had one right? Or maybe Felix was on to something early. Maybe this was a scripted loss. Rams and TB, both playoff opponents from last year. Weird. Felix smelled shit in the air and he might be right!
i think Zeiter isnt as good as they make him out to be. and i think Glasgow plays a lot better at RG. i would seriously consider swapping them. make Zeiter play LG or be a back up. i think we are getting a lot of pressure from where Zeiter is. JMO

I think he had the highest grade last week of any offensive player, def highest score among the OL

wrong
Against TB Ragnow-5 pressures allowed Kevin Zeitler-1 pressure allowed Taylor Decker-2 pressures allowed Penei Sewell-2 pressures allowed Graham Glasgow-6 pressures allowed
Man...y'all are slowing down in old age. I completely made a mistake in my last post (Dilfer won a SB with Baltimore) and didn't realize it until I had already logged off. Back in the day, I woulda returned to tons of shit talk...no matter how long it took me to return. :D
