Alright, first quarter of the season is done...what are youre thoughts?
Mine...record wise, I thought 2-2 with 3-1 possible. I expected some troubles on O witht he new system, but I expected the D to be decent...so far I think my expectations are about right...coaching cost the Lions the W in the first game, I didn't account for that...
Basically, I like what Ive seen, I just hope the intensity that we saw in this past game stays...if they can keep that focus up, I think they have a shot at beating anyone and getting as far as they want....
The Bevell hire has been a great fit. The defense has been ok, secondary improved; pass rush and run defense off to a slow start.
A couple things need to be cleaned up like protecting the football and limiting the mental mistakes, overall I think this team has the talent to compete if they clean up a few things. It will be interesting to see the Lions face the division rivals and how they stack up. It could be fun!
Could have been 4-0, but we fucked up the 1st game, survived the next two and blew the 4th. Yea, we almost shut down the Chiefs, but in the end we didn't win...wins are the only thing that matters.

Oddly enough I'm most encouraged by the loss. I thought the Chargers and Eagles games were gifts and kind of fluky. The KC game showed this team has some heart, and Stafford's performance in that game was encouraging. Although I suppose I shouldn't be all that encouraged against a low level defense, but it was good to see him making plays near the end when they needed it.
Will be interesting to see what the defense can do when everyone is healthy (if that ever even happens).
Also impressed with Kerryon's burst at the line. Just don't see him staying healthy for a full season.

Most teams could be anything from 0-4 to 4-0 right now, football games are usually close.
I thought they’d be 1-3 and then turn it on down the stretch, so this encouraging. A road win against Philly is huge and Sunday’s game shows that Patricia can game plan with the best and the team can step up in the spotlight.
Injury is obviously a major factor, but i think they’re just scratching surface in some spots. Think offense has room to find more rhythm and consistency. Would like to see the OL rotation stop and I agree I worry about Kerryon a little with this workload. DL still hasn’t come together yet, hopefully they can all get on the field in next few weeks, would be big help down the stretch.
Bye is early, but could be right time with some guys beat up.

They are playing better than I expected eventhough I thought they would go 2-2. Now my expectations are for them to go 3-1 in the next quarter. There should be no excuses.
It really depends on how they rebound after the loss. Bye week couldn't have come at a better time. If they can repeat this kind of intensity and heart going forward the KC loss won't matter, but - knock on wood- I hope they don't devolve into the same old Lions, BUT I don't think they will. Not this team. They seem to make plays and the punch thing on defense was a refreshing thing to see. Keep it going I say. B to a B+ effort. The Zona game stung, but if they keep improving, who knows...

I think this team actually matured even since the Arizona game. If you remember in the Arizona game after that controversial time out, the team seemed to have lost the wind in their sails. But in the KC game they had a lot of shit not go their way (biggest one being the fumble recovery TD) and they continued to fight. As I always say, the good teams overcome bad calls/fluke plays, so hopefully the Lions are headed in that direction.
Lets hope this continues: (I may just have to change my avatar)
Stafford/Bevell marriage is working. Stafford’s aggressiveness has returned and he 3rd in the league in percentage of aggressive throws. Stafford is also attacking the field, not just vertically, but at all levels. His average pass is 11.1 yards (2nd most in the league), his completed passes are averaging 8.1 yards (1st in the league) and his passes are achieving first downs, with his average throw being 2.1 yards beyond the marker (2nd best in the NFL). Last year, Stafford finished 34th or worse in each of these stats, illustrating the marked improvement.
