I guess the Vikings fan being the only one posting about the preseason game shows how much interest Lions fans have in the preseason. Wake me up when the games count...

The 0-16 season is all I need to remember that the preseason doesn't matter.
No the wins/losses don't matter, maybe not even what the starters do, but man how are you not excited about the young guys? They're out there fighting for a job. That's what I find interesting about the preseason. It's the only time you get to see some of these guys play. If you don't watch, then it's difficult to complain in the regular season when a starter sucks because you don't know how bad his replacement might be haha.

Have to keep it in perspective because you know you’re seeing really basic looks and even with depth playing, it’s hard to make much of a judgement on performance because even if one of these guys has to step up, situation will be much different because roster around him will be.
Been some good things and some bad, nothing really swayed me much.
I am glad they’re holding Stafford back, I don’t see the benefit of playing him right now. At least enough of a benefit.

One guy that has really stood out though is Jalen Reeves-Maybin. With some of the coverage limitations of some of the LB’s on roster, he may earn himself a spot as a situational guy.

My thoughts were the Lions were still without some of there top starters and used an awful QB they just picked up. I liked the play of the team in the second half.
I don’t get too excited about young players because about 40 of them will be gone in two weeks.
I liked that there was better effort in game 2, but I think these joint practices seems to give the coaching staff all they really need to see and they hold guys out. I was surprised Stafford didn’t play a series, have to wonder if he is still nursing something.
Football is great but this place is very preseason cynical.
I was just glad that my free access to Gamepass kicked in this week, so I could watch the game on the big screen versus finding a stream on the iPad.
I just hope moving forward we see some of these injured guys start to play, if they don’t play until the season starts, could be rusty out of the gate.

He might be the best coverage LB they have.
Definitely and he seems to have improved against the run. Could give them some flexibility.

I would play him for a series or two in the next game and that's it.
Patricia seems far more concerned with health than anything else this preseason. Wouldn’t shock me if he doesn’t play. If he does I could see it being something similar to what you said. A couple series or first quarter, not the traditional first half.
If you aren’t going to have anything resembling your first team O out there, don’t see point in having Stafford out there.

Don’t think so. Jones just had injury come up this last week that held him out of practice but I don’t think Golloday had any injury issues.
Decker’s best season was his rookie year, since then he’s been pretty average. Definitely something they may need to look at if he doesn’t show something this year.
While I have 0 issues with the way preseason has been handled, and honestly, I have no concerns over the lack of points put up, I do think there will be a little bit of a learning curve with this offense based on being a new system and very few of the pieces playing together. I suspect it will be like the D last year, itll look terrible for a few weeks then come together.
That said, I also see this very conservative preseason as, the coaches know the opening 6 games are a rough go, so I feel like they are just setting it up to sneak through the opening weeks with a couple wins, hoping to stay healthy while getting the experience then making a late season push...I dont know, just how it feels to me

I think, especially with joint practices, you get to do a lot of work in practices now and can also control aspects that help you with injury risk. Which is obviously a big concern, like with Patricia yelling at Watt last week because he thought he got too close to Stafford.
I had a chance to watch the game last night, here are my observations:
Tavai had a solid outing. Maybin deserved some major props and played a great game, but Tavai was also very stout especially versus the run.
The OL looked much better with Dahl at LG, will be interesting to see how things progress.
The Lions look like they may be able to run the ball a little this season.
Hockenson has some wheels!
The backup QB situation is scary
Hard to tell much more of anything, but I do agree with some others as far as the offense with Stafford, Bevell, the WR's, also the starting DL. There is going to be some rust early on this season.
