Not buying it, but I did find it interesting that Slay ran his mouth after the Diggs trade but didn’t even practice all week and was out for the game yesterday.
If they could get a first round pick, the Lions would be stupid not to take it. Hell I might even take a 2nd rounder. I am figuring if they don’t trade him at least by tomorrow or after the seasons over, he is definitely gonna holdout next year and I don’t think he is worth more than he is making now. His best days are behind him imho.

Would be a bad move unless you’re getting a 1 plus a day 2 and even then I don’t think it would be a smart move.
I guess it depends if you think this team is going anywhere this year. Would certainly be a ballzy move by Quinn/Patricia since they are potentially fighting for their jobs and a Slay trade would certainly hurt them this year (unless it was a player for player trade).

Even if they don’t. Do it in the off-season. Be surprised if you can get max value mid-season and that’s ignoring some of the after-shock that could come from a move like that made in the middle of the year.
By "very high price" I cant help but think they are talking 2 firsts....
They would be stupid not to take that if any team offered. But I doubt any team is that desperate.
Rumors have it, Philly is pursuing, could be nothing more than someone called about Slay.
I don't think he get traded, nor I think they really should at this point....had they blown the game Sunday against the Giants I would be all in to trade him for just about any high draft pick. But if the Lions lose to the Raiders, their season is virtually done unless all the teams ahead of them lose.

There was a lot of “he’s not getting moved” from media last year with Tate right up to the deadline and then he got moved. So I don’t buy in too much with that. A lot of games being played in media by teams.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Lions have told teams that compensation for CB Darius Slay has to be similar to what the Rams gave up for CB Jalen Ramsey.
There's a lot to unpack here. Ramsey, a 25-year-old All-Pro yet to reach the prime of his career, was unloaded for two first-round picks and a subsequent fourth-rounder in 2021. Not only does Slay turn 29 in the new year, he's still owed $13.4 million next season stemming from his four-year, $48.15 million extension he inked with the Lions back in '16. The Eagles have reportedly shown interest in Slay after whiffing on a Ramsey deal, but it's unfathomable they give in to Detroit's current asking price. As it stands, Slay's likely to stay donning silver and blue beyond Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline.
Question: does Aqib Talib have anything left? He’s on IR, Rams traded him to dolphins with a pick for a future pick. Just to dump his salary. If he’s good, he can likely be had from dolphins for a late pick. They are more interested in picks by the looks of it.

Answer to first part is no. He’s not very good anymore.
And he’s on IR and not eligible to play a game until week 15. Why would you want to give up anything for him?

I knew nothing would happen.
Being at .500 and with the way the NFC is panning out, the Lions will have a damn near impossible task of making the playoff. So why give up draft capital to get some rental players that you only have for a short time or will have to give a max type contract to keep.
On the flip side, they can't have another 6 win season, so getting to 8 wins will show improvement and they will need a guy like Slay to do it. That might not make the fan base happy but it buys some good faith with the owners and some pie in the sky fans.
Depends on what the cost would have been, I might have been okay with it. Let's face it, the Lions RB situation is dire at best. But this Oline sucks at run blocking so I guess it is better to not have anything valuable back there after KOJ went down again.
He would have been a good fit, but not sure how cap numbers would have played out.
I think a lot of fans forget about the financials of making trades because in the other major sports it is relatively easy to make trades work, but a little more difficult in the NFL.
I mean look at the trades in the NFL, they are mostly for guys with little to nothing left on their current contract or salary dumps for teams.

He just signed an extension, think he’s got 3 years left. His bonus money would be on the Falcons books, but I still think you’re dealing with fairly big cap hits for him from his base. I can’t imagine it was more than a day 3 pick they were talking about, but question is more do you want to have him at that cap hit next year?

Exactly why the Falcons didn't want to trade him, he is still under contract for years, eventhough the Falcons are a garbage fire and probably need to rebuild. You must have heard about how the Lions and Falcons had extensive talks about Coleman and the Falcons ultimately discontinued any trade talks.
I am guessing a lot of GMs wanted way more for their players (like Slay) and were just unwilling to let them go for draft picks outside of the 1st or 2nd round. Hence, no real trades at the deadline.
