All of us could point out many problems with any team but at the end of the day your billion dollar QB needs to win a close game like this. His eyes are locked on his receiver in every passing play in the 4th quarter.
Yes lions lost. But they are still very much able to win the North. Vikings, Bears, and packers all lost today as well. We are still very much in the hunt to win the North. Difference is we don’t give up and we have the talent to get it done. We won’t get to the SB. but getting into the playoffs with the issues we have on defense would be excellent. All you negative Nancies, same old lions people can go fuck yourselves. Nothing close. We are headed to the SB going forward. Maybe not this season but the pieces are in we are sitting pretty going forward.

Break it down Tech. Show how “his eyes” being locked on the receiver, which you picked up from TV angle, is what caused the issue.
Nice play option but Stafford just gets sloppy at times. I don't get it. It'd almost been better to just hand it to Bawden.
That was a bad play call. I love 99% of what Bevell has brought to this offense, but the 1% has been really bad. That call, the back to back runs late in second half. When it’s been bad with him, it’s been back breaking bad.
Totally agree. No sense calling back to back runs and putting your QB into 3rd and long. Stupid. Stafford has done great with what he’s been given. The OC needs to trustg8m and quit putting him in 3rd and long. Our offense is pass first run 2nd. The sooner they accept that the better we will be and we have the QB to get that done.
Let's blame Stafford, because that is the easy route. The D couldn't stop anyone and some of these play designs, especially last series were horrendous, Stafford can only do so much with zero run game and a bad D. If this was most other QBs on this team being this one dimensional, I think they would do worse than what Stafford has done(Brady, included).

Stafford was good today. Definitely missed a few, but at this point people are nit-picking. He’s been a top 10 QB this year with a bottom third run O and Defense. He shouldn’t be the discussion.
It is very obvious what the biggest problem is with Stafford and it is the single biggest reason why the Lions can not win with him. Stafford locks his eyes on his receivers especially when the game in on the line or in big play situations. The best QB's know how to use there eyes to fake out defense's and they quickly find the open receiver. The result of locking eyes on a receiver results is less yards after the catch because the CB's know where he is throwing and are in good position, pass rushers knowing where the QB will be on the field and will put more pressure on him and more passes being batted or knocked down. The single most important skill a great QB has is vision and that Stafford does not have good vision. This is just common sense!
I think anyone on this board will agree that I'm the first to blame Stafford when it is deserved, but he did enough today. You can't win in the NFL when you can't stop the run and that is the biggest issue with this team. Yes, Stafford and his cap hit with mostly mediocre play has killed this team the last several years but right now there are bigger problems and it starts with the run D followed by the run blocking.

Funny how when Mahomes does a no-look pass the booth during the game and media after the game do nothing but suck his dick and Stafford did one today on that screen to Hockenson and even the booth didn't mention it. The even showed a replay from the defense's angle where it was very obvious and all they talked about was the blocking.

They were awful today. I normally don’t mind Speilman too much. I know others do. Bren Neman is awful, he just has his points and he rides them no matter what happens. At one point Flowers beat tackle cleanly and pushed Carr out of pocket and he threw it away and he said “Carr with all day to throw, but can’t find anyone”. It was like the story of Lions lack of pass rush was there so it was the easy talking point. Same with Stafford missing one after the play was clearly disrupted by a well timed blitz. They completely ignored the blitz causing the throw to be rushed and messing up timing.

Could be worse. Colinsworth just said on the Sunday night game that years from now we’ll look back on this game as the game where Lamar Jackson made it possible for quarterbacks like him to get a chance in the NFL. You can’t make this stuff up.
Seriously? Were you watching the game? They were trying to punch the ball all the time. It was to the point where I was wondering if it was actually hindering the tackling.

(Copy and paste that link. Not sure why the embedded link takes you to a Gamepass. Proboards really sucks ass.)
Tech, while you're not wrong about Stafford you are definitely the worst arguer in the history of mankind. You might have more credibility if you actually showed up more than once every couple months. Trust me, you're not that busy.

I'm not a subscriber, so I didn't see the play. The play that really pissed me off was in the 4th quarter, the Lions were 3rd and 3 at the Det 42 yard line down by a TD with 9 minutes to go. From the second Stafford snapped the ball, his eyes were locked in on Hockenson and the CB knew exactly where Stafford was going to throw the ball. Because of parity all you can ask of your team in to keep the game close so your billion dollar QB could win the game. This is where Stafford falls short! Regardless on how the rest of the team played, the game was close!!! Stafford hasn't delivered when it matters most.
My youngest son is going to high school at IMG academy in Florida and committed to play lacrosse at Syracuse University. The amount of traveling I am doing on the weekends is insane.
Watch the 9:39 mark. 1st and goal with 50 seconds left in the game. Stafford locks in on James on the left side. CB reads the play, and Stafford runs the ball. Notice on the right side Jones was wide open. Great QB's would have had the vision to find Jones and tie the game. Stafford is the one constant on this team the last decade! At some point you guys have to admit the Lions need to make a change.

That didn’t look like a locked on thing. It was Logan Thomas at TE and he also had Amendola on that side. The issue looked more like the left side of OL got demolished so he broke the pocket.
I’m fine making argument he could have seen Jones once he broke and possibly still made the throw to him, but this isn’t a good example of what you’re talking about.
Also, Stafford was not the overriding problem yesterday. Had some issues, but he’s pretty far down on the list in this game and for the season.

I think a few of us have said the Lions should move on from him but the problem is the alternative, and there's no point in cutting him due to the dead money so you wouldn't be getting any cap savings. I know I was hoping they would draft a QB this year but it also wasn't a great draft for QBs. Next year looks much better.

I think Stafford deserves more blame for the season than you seem to think (Arizona, GB, Minn second half struggles) but I don't know how anyone could watch yesterday's game and put much of it on him. It's probably the first game all year TechLion watched and so he had to keep up his Stafford bit but it wasn't the best game to support his argument.
