Also, Stafford was not the overriding problem yesterday. Had some issues, but he’s pretty far down on the list in this game and for the season.
I think Stafford deserves more blame for the season than you seem to think (Arizona, GB, Minn second half struggles) but I don't know how anyone could watch yesterday's game and put much of it on him. It's probably the first game all year TechLion watched and so he had to keep up his Stafford bit but it wasn't the best game to support his argument.
I think if you looked closely at those games and not just the pure stats it’s not what quite the same story as stats.
Had his issues for sure, but he’s been one of the 10 best QB’s in the league this year without question and has received virtually no help from running game and D for most part.

Defense giving up 31 points is never a good thing....just saying. Lions "D" was ranked #31 according to the broadcaster. So I would kind of look in that direction just for shiggles

The Lions, with an outrageously paid franchise quarterback, understand that the trade-off for having such a player is cutting back in other areas especially defense. I don't want to hear how bad the defense is when so much money is spent on the QB. When you pay a QB like Stafford big and the defense allows 31 point, Stafford needs to score 33 points. The trade-off that is not working out for the Lions.
*I feel the need to spell it out for the genius' out there...the "oh wait" is because the Lions still have ~$19 mil in cap space that they didnt spend....
Davis has been a disaster, I've been rooting for him, but 3 years in and he just doesn't seem to get it.
Quinn's overall 1st round draft picks have all been very questionable. Ragnow is okay. But Decker, Davis and (I know it is early) Hockenson are not looking like good picks so far.
Ragnow is really good. Decker is okay, he’s replaceable. Davis sucks.
Hockenson, it’s too early. He’s had flashes of good and bad, but they’ve thrown everything at him and I think he’s held up well. I think he’s gonna be really good.

I just have this weird premonition that he is going to be an injury bust.

Hope not. I saw him pull back from going for the hurdle Sunday, that was a good sign.

I saw it twice. But yeah, one was very obvious which is probably the one you're talking about.
He said he wasn’t gonna stop, but if that’s the case he’s clearly being much more selective in when he does it because he clearly thought twice about it.

You understand that you have to build a team over time don't you. You need available cap space over a span of many years to put together a well rounded team. How does available cap space right now help the Lions this year or in years past?

Well, you also have to consider Stafford's continuing cap hit escalation. He's already the highest cap hit in the entire NFL and next year it goes up even more. They have to consider that stuff before signing other guys long term and it's likely one of the reasons the past offseason signings were backloaded. Most teams have a good amount of cap space available and the Lions are right around the league average. They do have a good amount this year but that hasn't been the case throughout most of Stafford's contract (not always due to Stafford himself though as they gave out many other boneheaded contracts along the way).
And Stafford’s contract goes up 2 million next year. They didn’t back load those deals because of 2 million.
Well I meant due to his cap hit this year and next year, not due to the increase. Another way to look at it could be that perhaps they backloaded those deals in anticipation of Stafford being off the books after 2020, or a new deal would probably bring the cap hit down as well.

Maybe. I think some of it has to do with the CBA coming up.
