Against KC the defense, pretty much the whole defense utilized the "fumble punch" which worked excellent. It was the first time I had seen it and it was beautiful. We had 4 Forced fumbles and 3 of those we picked up. I am wondering why they SUDDENLY STOPPED the Fumble punch?
It worked, so why abandon it?
Just one of many questions Lions fans are probably wondering. Were they told by the league to cut it out? If so why?
Every defender had this in mind and 4 fumbles is no joke.
All teams do it, Justin Coleman does it more than most and I think that KC was just a perfect storm of some bad tendencies of the ball carriers, possibly some increased use by the Lions after noticing it, there is definitely the trade off of missed tackles because it as well which we certainly have seen plenty of.

They didn't abandon it, it just hasn't been working (or they haven't been as lucky). I have definitely noticed guys trying to punch the ball out since that game. And to hunter's point I have seen cases where they missed a tackle trying to punch the ball out.
