Just over $9M in 2020. Not bad, but not great for a 30 year old WR that hasn't stayed healthy in two years. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him around but with a $6.5M cap savings it's worth considering.

He’s missing 3 games and considering he finished the game Sunday, I’m willing to bet it’s not a major injury and possibly something he plays through if team is in contention. He was on pace for 70+ catches, nearly a 1000 yards and double digit TD’s.
I’m not sure why you create hole that you don’t have to. They don’t need the money.

Certainly not without an alternative plan. I'm not sure what will be available at the position next year in free agency but you could potentially sign a younger guy with similar talent at that cap hit at least for the first year. Or maybe trade him and get some value.
So glad to have Golladay though. One of the few things Quinn did right.

If he’s younger and similar talent, I highly doubt he’ll be available, and sign a deal that would pay him something similar to what Jones did 4 years ago. If you backload it, keep in mind Golladay only has one year left on his deal. Just doesn’t make sense. It’s a loaded WR draft. Draft one, let him develop for a year and when Jones moves on after next year he’ll be ready to step in and will be cheaper.
And with one year left, I’m not sure you’re gonna get good value back.

Possibly, but you could clearly see when the injury happened and the only reason he stayed on the field was because the Lions would have been forced to use a TO (or 10 second run-off - I can't remember if they had any TOs left). Supposedly he had to be carted to the locker room.

Still, he played in 13 games. NFL WR’s on average play in 14. Unless this is something lingering into next season, don’t see any reason to be moving on.

The point was just that he will be a 30 year old WR that hasn't finished his last two seasons. Perhaps there is nothing to Sunday's injury, but the team will know.
Again, I'm not saying they should move on from him, I'm just saying the possibility is there. I even saw a mention of it on Twitter.

You made a case for it in an earlier post. I think it would be a poor decision, but it wouldn’t be the first one made by this staff and FO.
Next man up...Travis Fulgham from the practice Squad has had his name bandied about. Let's see what the Lad can do. Three games to evaluate the practice squad talent..Also could rob from other practice squads to shake the tree a little. Opportunity is available here in the Motor City. Who wants to be on an NFL team?
