No. He’s 31, wildly inconsistent, and a moron. Beyond all the dumb stuff he did when he was younger, the guy had a dead body found in his house a year ago.

Well you know that things must be pretty bad in Lion land when you champion a cause like this...I forgot about the dead body.....That happens a lot
I guess I would liken a move like this to the "Patriot Way". Pick up a guy like this....if he doesn't renegotiate his contract for next year..dump him. If he does you have a chip you can trade to someone in need. I've seen the Patriots do stuff like this all the time and they always seem to end up with extra draft picks. Kinda like playing chess....
He’s available right now, 31, a shit load of baggage, and due a lot of money next season....
What team is going to trade anything for him?
It would be a “Patriot” type move, if the Lions were 8-5 and fighting for a playoff spot, but even then I don’t think they’re touching him.
Has he cleared waivers? I read that a team could pick him up and dump him after the season and not be stuck with next years salary. Lets see if the Patriots or the Packers sign him. Of course he would have to renegotiate that deal.....
Jenkins’ contract is subject to waivers, with a claiming deadline of Monday at 4:00 p.m. ET. And he is blubbering like a baby in total apologetic mode. Said it was a learning moment.

Yes, if he clears waivers you’re not on hook for his deal, but why would you sign him to a new deal and why would he sign with a team that is out of contention at this point? Unless they’re the only team interested(which would be telling)or offering a bunch of money.
Nothing about bringing him in makes sense for this team.

I thought I read that if you claim him you are on the hook for this years salary, but you could cut him at seasons end if you didn't want to pay the 10 million for next year. Which is a ridiculous amount for him. So if he showed that there still was some rubber on the wheels you could offer him a newer cheaper contract. Aside from the sideshow, he is/was a good db. So you fork over a couple of gamechecks and then re-evaluate. He is a former pro bowl player. And it makes for a lively discussion..I don't see Quinn really doing anything..Sometime you have to kick a few tires to show you still have a heartbeat

You claim him you take on his current contract. He’s signed through 2020, his cap hit next year is over 14 million, they can cut him and only be on hook for 3.5. And if he showed he still had something, which 3 games would be a poor judgement of, why would he accept less money?
And calling him “good” is a stretch. He had one “good” season, outside of that he’s always been a guy capable of being a good CB, but was inconsistent because he lacked discipline and gambled too much. The discipline issue seemed to be an off field issue too.

Veteran cornerback Janoris Jenkins is expected to be picked up by a playoff contender this coming week according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs were mentioned as possible teams of interest.
There are a lot of moving parts, however. Schefter notes that it is unclear whether or not the veteran will clear waivers Monday as an injured player. If he does, then he would revert back to the New York Giants' Injured Reserve. The Giants would release him from that list as well, meaning he would be subject to waivers for a second time Tuesday. If a team does not claim him during either waiver period, then he becomes a free agent. If a team claims him off the waiver wire, then they are essentially picking up his remaining 2019 contract as well as his 2020 contract, which is scheduled to cost $11.25 million.
Jenkins was released by the team Friday after failing to apologize for an inappropriate slur he directed towards a fan on Twitter earlier in the week. During a locker room interview with media, the 31 year old acknowledged that he regretted using the word but also did not apologize. He kept saying that the slur he used was just slang where he is from and that it was not his fault for how it was interpreted. New York held him accountable for his actions.
After initially tweeting 'Best news ever' upon receiving word of his release, Jenkins backtracked and offered somewhat of a farewell to the Giants fans.
Word came on Monday afternoon that cornerback Janoris Jenkins had been claimed off of waivers, but the identity of the team wasn’t immediately revealed.
That team is now known. According to multiple reports, Jenkins has been claimed by the Saints.
Jenkins is not eligible to play against the Colts on Monday night as the transaction will become official on Tuesday.
Landing in New Orleans reunites Jenkins with former Giants teammate Eli Apple. Apple has played almost every snap of the season with Marshon Lattimore and P.J. Williams next up in playing time at corner in New Orleans. The team will have a couple of weeks to figure out how Jenkins fits before hitting the postseason.
Jenkins had 54 tackles and four interceptions in 13 games for the Giants. He was waived last Friday after using an offensive term in response to someone on Twitter and then offering an explanation that it was just a slang term from where he grew up.
