1. You can't create any more holes in this roster: Quinn can't get too cute here, he may have over thought the whole Diggs deal and dealt a good player for little value. I am concerned he will let guys like Glasgow go. Pay these guys and keep the core intact, I don't trust Quinn in the draft to replace the good players we already have. We have the $, spend it.
2. Keep Stafford: The Lions have no business trying to move Stafford and get Tua. That's ridiculous, guy is coming off injury..too risky. Get a solid back up for crying out loud! If anything see if you can get him to restructure and open up more cap space. Stafford was great last season.
3. Stay at #3 and get a guaranteed difference maker on defense. Unless you only move down a few spots and get a crap load of draft picks and stay in the top 7. I'd say take the slam dunk player, this defense needs talent badly.

I’m confused. Is this about positional needs? The title and the post seem to go in different directions.
If we’re talking needs.
1. DT. specifically one that can pass rush. May need multiple if Snacks retires. 2. CB. Never have enough and with lack of pass rush by design or talent, more is needed. 3. G. Glasgow seems to be as good as gone. 4. LB. Need to find a way to have Davis on the field less. 5. WR. Need a slot for next season and both Jones and Golladay will be FA after this season. 6. DE/Edge. Need someone to take over Kennard’s role after this season. 7. T. I think they hold onto Wagner for one more year, but need plan in place to replace him.
Get used to Glasgow being gone. For whatever reason they are not interested in him coming back. I am over it and everyone should be as well.
I would try to make teams think they might draft a QB, outside of actually dealing Stafford (which would hurt this team), to try to trade down 2 or 3 spots in the draft to pick up extra picks. In fact I would be on board with the Lions being the source of Matt Stafford trade talks, just to drum up interest, even if they have told Matt this and he is okay with the rumors knowing full well they would never trade him. The only way I don't want them trading down is if Young falls to them (subject to change after combine and prodays).
Team needs are DL, OL, CB, LB, WR, QB2 in that order.

Well we shall see, I hope they try to keep him. Without him I think we will see a pretty big drop-off.
They may or may not. I’d like to see them keep him, but I think Lions fans are going a bit overboard(I blame PFF)with Glasgow. If he’s asking for money in the Brooks or Martin area, I’d hesitate, too. He’s good, but I don’t know if I give him top money.
You also have to look at future. Decker is coming up and plays a more valuable position and Ragnow will be eligible for an extension in ‘21.
We saw how the whole LG rotation played out....not all that great. Glasgow is a guy that can also play center. The whole thing is bad how its playing out in the media with Glasgow saying they have not even talked to him or his agent about it yet and he feels unwanted. I hope they started some dialogue with him to see if they can get him at a reasonable price.
Again with this roster needing major help, the OL isn't a place you need to create more holes.

I didn’t like the rotation, but it was so far down the list of problems with this team.
Again, are you willing to pay Glasgow like a top 5 guard? If that’s what he’s looking for, I’m with the front office.
Allowing a player to test FA is no guarantee that he won't be back. The recent addition of an OG coming off injury doesn't really change anything, I think that Beau Benzschawel may actually be their ace in the hole at OG. Glasgow is serviceable, the question should be not whether they pay him but can they do better after the cost is known. OT is a deep class, I would absolutely take one the only question being where. Considering the money we have tied up with Wagner we really can't afford to go FA and they have made comments that pretty much say he's not a cap casualty this year.
Not sure why people aren't talking about WR. Looks like Amendola is gone, that's a problem and even if he stays we would need HIS eventual replacement. Jermaine Kearse looked good before the injury, do you bring him back? Marvin Hall averaged 37.3 ypc before being injured and we have him signed for this year. Marvin Jones turns 30 this year and is in his last year I believe. Good draft to find someone in day 3 if they want to wait but they need WR to be on the radar.
RB? RB is all about ??? Can KJ stay healthy? Is Bo a find? Can Bo lead block in a FB role? JD did well, averaged 5.4 ypc and 6.9 per reception. Is FA an option, for someone like Kenyon Drake? Deep draft for RB's even though some chose to go back that were draft eligible.
DT should be a priority. Do you bring back Daniels with a small guarantee and lots of incentives? Can he even pass the physical? Can SNACKS even pass the physical. Is A'shawn worth bringing back? Will Hand be healthy? I don't like taking a DT in the first unless there is a trade down scenario where we get extra picks, and I also think that after the 2nd is too late. FA will have the biggest effect on what we do.
EDGE is a complete unknown. Hand was injured, rookie Austin Bryant showed nothing in limited play. We have too much money tied up doing it the Patriot Way with Flowers and Romeo Okwara took a big step backwards last season. 2018 he had 37 tackles and 7.5 sacks. 2019 he had 26 tackles and 1.5 sacks. We can't afford another hi dollar FA, but if Hand is healthy do we need to use a hi pick?
Secondary. #2 CB and safety are still question marks. We have Slay under contract, if he leaves IMO we get enough for him to patch his hole but not fill it. I would try and bring him back instead of trading him. He and Snacks are the 2 biggest question marks for the team this off season. If he leaves then Okudah in a trade down scenario would be my guess and is who I want as I think that we move back with Miami and still get the guy we want. Safety? Not sure what they saw in Harris, hated taking Walker over Mark Andrews, lets see how they screw it up this year.
QB? Well, our backups looked bad because they were bad. At the very least we need a FA vet. Don't like ours because while they might win a game or two even, there's way too much drop off for them to keep us competitive vs good teams. I would NOT draft one, this draft sucks for QB's after the first round. I would absolutely look in FA.
Lot's of unknowns right now, esp since we still don't have a staff that is completely filled. I have low expectations for these guys to get it right because nothing they have done so far indicates that they will. Hope I'm wrong.
You can't go full Millen and start drafting WRs like crazy with this horrible defense and 3 or yoirboffensive line starters contracts are up and guys looking for new deals or FA.
Stay away from the skilled players and build the foundation. This has always been the Achilles heal of the Lions. Not shocked that KJ wlcant stay healthy given his college injury history..need to roll with Mckisic (sp?) And who you have and not commit top resources to skilled players. The offense can score if you protect Stafford. The Lions blew more leads than any other team in the NFL last year by a long shot.

3 OL starters contracts are up? Am I missing something? Glasgow is the only starter FA on roster.
I don’t want them to take a WR in the first, but they need to take one. It’s a loaded draft and the Lions don’t have a viable WR under contract after this season.
And they’ve done the “foundation” thing. It doesn’t matter what position you’re drafting, just draft good players.

I'm throwing in Dekker and Wagner, still have a big question mark with the LG rotation. Need planning for 2021 now or the OL will be a disaster.

I think Dahl was fine at LG. And in reality they rotated all 3. I’d hope whatever they do at RG solidifies that.
That said, the WR position is more in flux than the OL. They literally don’t have a viable WR signed after this year.

I think they will extend Golladay. Jones will definitely be gone after this year, maybe even this year. I would look at a WR on day 2 and/or look at signing someone like Robby Anderson, Perriman or Funchess.

I think they’ll extend Golladay, but that still leaves them thin down the line.
I wouldn’t spend much in FA. Anderson will be expensive. I’d b be open to bringing Amendola back for another year or another stop gap vet. They’d be dumb to not be looking at the draft for WR this year.
Keep this OL intact and get a defense that can compete we may just win some games
#Lions QB Matthew Stafford turns 32 years old today.
Among all-time @nfl QBs through age 31, Stafford ranked: - 1st in attempts (5,696) - 1st in completions (3,559) - 2nd in passing yards (41,025) - 3rd in passing TDs (256) - Tied for 3rd in games started (149)
This team has so many needs that I could write an essay. So I will restrict myself to focussing on one or two needs that I think are most pressing.
The offense was performing pretty well while Matthew Stafford was healthy this season so Defense HAS to be the focus.
Although I think the linebacker core could do with an upgrade, the priorities for me have to be the defensive front and the secondary. Primarily a pass rusher and a shut down corner to play opposite Darius Slay. The pass rusher could be internal or external, either would be fine. If I could choose I would probably go for an edge rusher as they tend to put up more sacks than internal rushers(unless your name is Aaron Donald. Not many of him around!). I see Jeff Okudah being mocked frequently to the Lions. I don't watch college football so I cannot comment on how good Okudah actually is. All I will say is that if he is a genuine top level prospect then I'd be absolutely fine with the Lions taking him at #3. Having him locking down one side of the field and Slay on the other side would be a nice tandem. It would also, in theory, give our rather timid pass rush a little more time to try and corral opposing QBs.

Don't worry the Lions will take a cornerback at #3....I mean nobody uses a top 3 pick on a CB, but they will claim Okudah is a once in a generation talent (he's not). If they drop down a few picks I would be okay. But if they stand pat and draft Okudah at #3, I might lose my shit.
Easy to take Okudah at #5 because it means you got extra picks. At #3 would be hard to swallow because I have to believe that there will be legitimate trade scenarios that would still allow us to take either Okudah or Brown and have a chance to seriously upgrade the roster. If Young is there it would have to be a helluva package because he is a legitimate game changer.

Yeah obviously if a trade down is possible and you can still get Okudah that is ideal. Hopefully Quinn learned from his blunder last year of being too set on his guy and not trading down when apparently there was opportunity to.
