From draft simulator. Something to talk about while we’re all locked up. Which do you prefer?

I like rounds 1-4 a ton in A, but 5-7 didn’t really go the way I would like compared to the other 2.
B fell really well all the way through. 1-7 all seemed to come with guys that fit well.
C is a good haul of talent to fill out the roster. Don’t think it has the big hit ceiling that B has, but a good group that could help fill out the roster.
1st choice: Young. I’d even consider trading up 1 spot to get him. We have enough picks to do it 2nd choice: Simmons 3rd choice: Brown 4th choice: only if we trade down and none of the above are there, Okudah

I like Simmons, but where are you playing him in this D? He’s not playing LB, he doesn’t shed blocks well enough against the run and I’m not sure they’re putting him at safety, especially with what they have already invested.

I am not sure if you watched him play at Clemson, or the highlights but he definitely can shed blocks. Has the size to play edge, can drop into coverage and runs sideline to sideline. The guy is truly a freak. Makes plays all over the field, in the back field, INTs, and drops into coverage with WR. Dude ran a 4.39 at 6'4" and 238 pound.

In different system it would matter less, but they have a very very specific fit in mind for their LB’s. I don’t see Simmons fitting in with that role unless Patricia is willing to be more flexible there, which he hasn’t shown in the past.
Simmons is not a true LB or S. He’s a hybrid guy and I don’t see them using him in that role here unless they’re willing to make some changes.

If Jacksonville comes calling I hope they offer just that. I prefer scenario B but that's not gonna happen. Won too many games miss out on a stud edge rusher second year in a roll.
Watched Simmons' highlights and he is what the Lions haven't had in years - a playmaker on D. Quick, who is the last Lion defenses had to SPECIFICALLY plan for each play? Slay? Meh, you knew he was on WR1 on the field. Suh? Maybe, probably. Harrison? Nah, teams knew the Lions wouldn't use him right. When Clemson played LSU in the title game, Simmons dominated early and then LSU made some changes on offense and pulled away.
I wouldn't mind trading and having C happen. I LOVE Javon Kinlaw. Like, I love him enough that if all else fails, I want him at #3. (I also love Okudah for full transparency and think they are the 2 best players in the draft. Burrow is a 1 year wonder and Tua is injury prone) Kinlaw moves his feet like a wild man and dominates the point of attack. He also has good speed chasing down RBs and QBs. Love what he brings to the table and if we trade down, I would grab Kinlaw before Brown. Remember, Brown played with a DT (Davidson), 2 DEs and 2 CBs that will be drafted while Kinlaw played with a line where maybe a DE will go late. Even with enhanced attention from opposing offensive schemers, Kinlaw had more sacks than Brown. Just big on Kinlaw.
At 3 drafting a top 10 pick is fine. Young won’t be there, Simmons will but IMO we have bigger needs at DL rather than LB, S, or CB. Brown would be my pick. As far as Browm playing with all the other talent on D, That statement is silly. Same. Could be said about all them, and Brown is the best of them.
Just read an article about Yannick Ngakoue wanting out of JAX bad. He will also be getting paid in full, but look at Flowers' deal? It wouldn't be much more than that for a top 3 edge guy in the NFL already? Add in Simmons and here is your run defense that wasn't there last year. Lot of possibilities, but will cost $$

No thanks on Yannick Ngakoue , the draft compensation and what he wants to get paid, no thank you and after seeing his twitter war with Jags ownership, a hell no
