Here it is, since we all like to play armchair quarterback.
Assume no trades other than the ones that actually happened and the picks stay as they were. Yes, Geezer I realize this is not perfect as one changed pick can have a domino effect on the entire draft, but what the hell else have we got to talk about?
-3 Jeff Okudah CB Ohio State - I love Okudah and think he's probably the safest player in the draft, but I would have just rolled the dice and taken Tua and keep him on the bench for a year or two. The injuries scare me but he has a chance to be a generational player and it could be the only chance the Lions have to get a player like that, ever. Of course I would still listen to offers from Miami or LA after taking him and calling their bluff but for the purposes of this exercise the trade can't happen.
-35 D'Andre Swift RB Georgia - Another player I like, but my least favorite pick of the draft. And obviously taking Tua this pick would look even worse. So I'm taking Blacklock here (with consideration for Epenesa). Hunt is tempting but I thought he went kind of early.
-67 Julian Okwara OLB Notre Dame - I like this pick, probably a toss-up between him and Baun so I'll stick with Okwara.
-75 Jonah Jackson G Ohio State - I like this kid, I'll stick with Jackson.
-121 Logan Stenberg G Kentucky - Don't really know much about him but have read he's just a run blocker so hopefully they can teach him up. I think I would have gone Curtis Weaver here but not sure why he slipped so much.
-166 Quintez Cephus WR Wisconsin - Have to admit I was gonna go Bradlee Anae here but the more and more I see and hear about Cephus the more I like. Seems like a bigger, slower guy but really gets off his breaks and could be a great Amendola replacement/insurance policy. So I'll go with Cephus.
-172 Jason Huntley RB New Mexico State - Since I changed my mind on Cephus, I'll go Anae here since he still went later.
-197 John Penisini DT Utah - I'll keep this one.
-235 Jashon Cornell DT Ohio State - I'll take Coe instead since Dane seems to like him.
