While I'm certainly jealous of their respective records, I'm also not convinced it's sustainable. I'll still be surprised if the Jets or Giants make the playoffs.
Not true, your statement is an oxymoron. If there wasn't any progress, you would not have any of these wins and improvements...case and point, look at the Lions.
The pace may not be sustainable, but the fundamentals and foundation is being laid for future success. You are seeing progress, can the same be said for our Lions?

The point is if they come back to earth then how much progress did they make? 3 weeks ago everyone was thrilled with the Lions progress now 2 games later everyone is jumping off the ship.
I have no idea how much any of these teams have progressed because you need a season to actually see it. Not a few games, even bad teams can string together a few good weeks.

Yeah, typical Vic logic. If the Lions were 4-1 now and then finished 4-13 would anyone be saying progress was made?

Which is why most Lions fans are stupid. They took an entire 180 because of one really bad game that followed with 2 weeks to stew before their next game. Like you said, I doubt anyone thought the 2007 team was considered successful (started 6-2 and finished 1-7 in case anyone forgot).
Lions still have time to improve and these other teams still have time to fail.

I predicted a 5-12 year. I stand by that prediction. I think the lions have improved...Better personnel, especially on offense, in spite of multiple injuries. Offense has proven depth, Defense is lacking in depth. After a few injuries your defense is down to practice squad players and udfa plugging holes. And we have seen the results of that. Cominsky is a waiver wire add, Paschal is coming of sports hernia surgery and hasn't played a down. But Lions coaches seem to think that these guys returning will be a big help. Maybe, we saw some nice things from Cominsky before he went down. Paschal might be a difference maker. That is an unknown. We will see. Lions have to go 4-8 the rest of the way to reach my prediction. So, I am not as optimistic as I was when I made that prediction. Do I wish they would ball out and make a 9-3 run. Sure, and probably possible. They clearly could have won every game other than the Patriots game. So I Guess it's time for us to see who the Lions really are. Go Lions

What did you think their record would be at this point when you said 5-12? Looking at the schedule before the season, I figured 2-3 at this point would be reasonable, so I don’t think they’re that far off that path, especially considering the teams they’ve faced are 19-11 at this point, didn’t see that being the case.
No idea how rest of the season plays out, but even where they are now, I don’t think 4-8 is crazy.

Look.... I am posting someone's opinion. If the Lions were 4-1??? Are we dealing with hypotheticals or reality? The reality is the Giants and Jets have shown some good progress. The Lions still can't scheme on defense or manage the clock in a game. They already purged the OC last year and the DC has shown some major schematical and situational concerns with his play calling. It's more than one "bad game" that has people talking about this. I'm not saying fire DC here, but happy for the Giants and Jets fans right now. Lions fans are definitely in their comfort zone at the moment. Big game after the bye week, let's see if Aaron Glenn can get this defense to turn the corner. He has some fresh legs on the defensive line this week.

I am Uncomfortably comfortable that they can do 4-8.....

The Jets 4-2 seems more legit than the Giants 5-1. Both offenses have major issues and wouldn't go very far in the playoffs if they made it. The Jets D seems pretty legit though.

They both have a couple nice wins, but a lot of soft in the schedule. I like Daboll a lot for Giants, I think he’s made a massive difference and helped settle the offense.
Quinnen Williams has finally put it all together and they made some nice FA moves on D. I think a lot hinges on Wilson. I liked him a lot coming out, but he’s definitely been erratic.
the jets. Their front 7. Basically the same in 2021 as 2022. Thus, more pieces in place.
Are you saying lions 2021 had more talent than 2021 jets?
Okay I think I misunderstood what you were saying. That said, I think you can argue the Lions have more talent overall than the Jets or Giants. Sure, the Lions injuries haven't helped but the Giants have been hit pretty hard as well. I mean, have the seen the WRs they've been trotting out?
If you say so. Personally, I think the 2021 Lions had one of the least talented rosters Ive ever seen in the NFL,sans the OLine, which was half hurt...

Perhaps toward the end when they were putting dudes on IR for a hang nail.

even the start of the season...i think mozt of us, me included had the lions at less than 5 wins, most at 2-3 wins...other than oline, who did we have?

the only game they lost that I had them winning was SEA, but I had them for at least 7 wins
