Swift is bitching because they are limiting his touches. Barkley is a workhorse who had 35 runs last week. so tell Swift we will give you the load and you better perform. so put up or shut up. give Swift the ball 25 times if he can last that long. show him why hes eing limited. IMO they wont do that. they are trying to keep him as healthy as possible through the season so they can trade him. should have done that before this season. been saying it. hes a china doll. so while it would be a good headline to see swift and barkley get the load of the offense this weekend its a pipedream for Swift. hes proven he cant stay healthy.

Swift has kind of worn out his welcome with all these nagging injuries. There is only so much of this an organization can stand. Sad thing is he will probably land somewhere else and be an all pro. But here he is very unreliable and taking a spot that a more durable player with a similar skill set could be occupying. He is way too fragile to be every down back. That makes him very expendable

Meh, as much as I agree Swift doesn't seem built for the NFL this is pretty melodramatic. The list of bell cow running backs in today's NFL is Henry, Barkley and the list pretty much ends there. And do I need to remind you that Barkley has missed 18 games in the last 2 1/2 seasons? The Lions are playing it smart limiting Swift's exposure. It's not like he's on some huge contract - he's on a 2nd round rookie deal. The deal ends after next season. No reason to do anything before then. Unless you can get a 2nd round or better pick for him it's not even worth considering trading him.
Swift had pretty low miles and was relatively healthy in college, unfortunate he seems to not be able to be healthy and productive as much as we would like.
Don't be shocked if you don't hear in the future that Swift has a problem with the coaching staff or vice versa.
Curious as to why you think that would be the case?
Well it is mostly 2nd or 3rd hand knowledge from “Lions” sources that I personally trust. But what I have heard is that Swift had been fully healthy for at least 2 weeks now. And the coaches just don’t trust him to be the every down back. They just throw him in there once and while. And you get what we saw. Couple of terrible decision on runs and one play where he scored a TD.

Interesting, they also could be trying to keep him healthy as trade bait.

Healthy, but terrible production isn’t gonna bring back much. He probably had more value that stretch when he wasn’t playing earlier in the season.

I kinda like that RB from U of M....Blake Corum? Dude is nice. Late first rounder? QB early? Defense the rest?
Todd McShay had commentary during the Michigan / Illinois game that Corum and Chase Brown the Illinois RB project to 3rd or 4th rd picks due to the "Devaluation" by the NFL of that position. 1rst or 2nd rd picks are reserved for very special rb's will multiple skill sets and size and power. Corum and Brown are not very big... Corum kind of reminds me of of a slightly larger Darren Sproles a rb from back in the day. He was a heck of a player, but not an every down back.
