Some interesting info about draft in the beginning. Paraphrasing mostly.
-Views Gibbs as a “multi-phased position less weapon”
-Thinks RB room is better and different(kind of has to) and fits more with Johnson’s offense. Brings up Montgomery’s ability as pass catcher.
-Made sure to not directly compare, but brought up Marshall Faulk and Christian Mccaffery as examples of the type RB’s he’s seen with route running ability that Gibbs has. Said he really stood out to him when he went Texas/Bama game.
-Weren’t really thinking LB going into draft after bringing Anzalone back and Rodriguez and Barnes development, but they loved everything about Campbell, said he’s on the few green dot players that gonna be an anchor of a defense.
-Felt draft wasn’t as strong on top, said they only had 14 first round grades. Usually 17-18, most he can remember is 20. Said Campbell was that 14th first round grade.
The rest is a lot of personal stuff about how his life and how he came up.

Great interview, thanks for sharing. You have to appreciate his candor. Surprised he revealed that Campbell was #14 on their chart. I'm not really a Goff guy, but Holmes talking about his work ethic makes me feel better about him. I would have liked to hear him talk about Hooker a little.
How many times did he say, "I'll never forget..."

one thing i noticed with Gibbs is he has fantastic field vision. we have had speed backs in the past that were brain dead as far as field vision but gibbs has the best field vision ive seen since barry. and he gets into high gear fast.

Yeah, I’d like to have heard him go into day 2 more or even some of the last 2 drafts.
Holmes seems like a smart, but relatable guy. Have to give some credit to Sheila, Speilman, Wood and Disner because you can also see how him and Dan would mesh well.

How Gibbs fits will be interesting Swift was already deadly effective in Johnson's offense (when he got the snaps), they seem confident that Gibbs is a better RB than him, the entire offense is built around getting the ball to players in space in the short passing game and they have tailored the offense to that adding Gibbs but also Laporta who seems like a big upgrade on the after the catch ability, the only piece that didn't fit was Marvin Jones who is more a contested pass deeper threat type player, which I understand the need for different skillsets but Goff isn't big on those type of throws.
One thing I will say is with all of this specialization of the offense when Johnson inevitably gets a HC job the pressure will be on the continue that system because retooling personnel won't be easy.
If the LBs developing like they are hyping we could end up going from a pretty bad unit to a good one in just one season, Barnes is the guy I think was written off but if the hype is true could be fighting for snaps on the first team and with nickel being the base package at this point not as many snaps to go around, Campbell need snaps, Rodriguez has earned snaps and Anzalone is the leadership guy hard to bench him completely, good problem to have and of course injuries happen.

In regards to if/when Johnson leaves I hope they are grooming his replacement. The encouraging this is this offense doesn't seem to be a system like say WCO. It is more of scheme based on the strengths of the players. I really think the scheme is around what Goff does well. And that hopefully evolve based on who the players are.
Also anyone can't be upset about RB,LB,TE with first 3 picks even if these guys all dont get a ton of reps. You talk about identity of a football team.
