I'm sure Jamo's lack of development is part of it, but I think it's mostly that it's a high character guy that can do a lot of things well. They love those types of guys. He's basically a younger (and bigger) Kalif.
There was a part of me thinking they were gonna trade Jamo yesterday and the fact that they didn't tells me that maybe they still have some hope for him.
trade him to who and for what? Is there a market for him? What team would want to take on that cap hit for zero (very very little) production
You don't think a selling team like Denver, Washington, Chicago, NYG, Carolina, Arizona would be interested in a huge ceiling former first round pick still on the second year of their rookie contract? He's basically still a rookie this year given everything that has happened with him including recovering from ACL surgery. If anything he would have been the perfect sweetener to go along with a draft pick for say, if they went after Burns.

Probably not, especially since he can't catch the ball

The problem with Jameson Williams is that he is 2 steps faster than everyone else in the league. Goff is constantly throwing behind Jamo or on the fringe of his catch radius. His speed also outruns Goff's arm strength at times. Jameson Williams will have a breakthrough game, soon.

I think Jameson is having some issues of his own, but I do think there’s something to this. Goff has had some issues with WR’s with high end speed. It took him time to connect with Chark last year, I’ve seen him miss a few to Kalif, and I think read it took some time with Cooks in LA, too.
Goff is a guy that I think timing is really important, so may be something to it. I think they need some more drags, rub routes, for Jameson, too. Not so much gadgety and top of the tree stuff. That skinny post on Monday was one of the few passes that has been on spot between he and Goff.
All he needs to do is catch the darn ball and everything else will fall into place for him
It would help, but almost every deep route has been underthrown. Even the one he caught for a TD against TB. The one he caught last year, same thing. That’s not easy thing for a WR to do. QB’s are generally told on those routes to overthrow if anything. Even motion into the swing pass Monday, Goff was late and had to throw it behind because the defender had time to get better position. Now Jamo should have caught it, but it’s what a 6 yard gain? If it’s on time and out front with the space that’s necessary, it looked it’s a foot race to the end zone.
Timing matters, too. They haven’t got it down and it’s part of the issue.

These guys are pros, if it hits the hands they should catch it majority of the time. Most WRs that is the case, I understand what you are saying about Goff but we seen many passes going back to pre season be where they need to be and he dropped it

He has his issues, for sure. But saying if it hits your hands you should catch it, is a stupid football platitude. Takes everything off the QB. I guarantee ball placement and timing are being brought up in the QB room, just like the other stuff is being brought up in the WR room. They both matter.
I’m sure the plan wasn’t to throw a back shoulder ball on that turbo swing pass that he dropped. They just need to get in sync and I do think Johnson could find some easier routes to help it.

Put every other WR on the roster in the same exact scenario they make those catches more times than none. 90% of those passes while not perfect, were all catchable he has dropped.

Facts
It’s actually not a fact at all. It’s an opinion. Not a great one either since the Lions are one of the league leaders in drops.
I don't think it can be argued that he's not playing up to his draft position.
A guy drafted that high needs to be brimming with confidence, crisp in his routes, mature and laser focused.
He's been lacking in some of those areas, and you can see it in his demeanor.
Correct.
Not everything is 100% on him, though.
Nothing is ever 100% on anyone. This goes without saying.
The percentage that he is responsible for, he doesn't appear to be living up to. Hoever, his coaching staff sees him in practice every day, so they're the ones who would know. This also goes without saying.

The dude has 3 drops...some of you guys make it sound like he's dropped every one of his targets. And I'm not sure if the 3 includes the one where his arm was held.

FWIW, in the pregame warmup on Monday night, I was watching Jamo and the way he was catching balls it looked like he had stickum on his hands even doing sideline drills. If he truly has a problem for the rest of the season, not sure why he has issues catching the ball during game time other than the ball might not be exactly placed or the speed in real game time.
I'm still going by my original prediction that he will have broken out by Thanksgiving...getting tight with only 3 games to match. But when I made that prediction this would have only been his 2nd game back.

Herman Moore said they need to give Jamo shorter routes to build his confidence. Confidence aside, I don't know why they haven't been doing that more and getting him in space. Or maybe they've been trying and he can't get open?

Seems like they’ve targeted a few curls and outs that he’s been open, but either ball placement was off or route wasn’t accurate. Or both.
I’d just like to see some of those short drags and rub routes you see Miami run a ton of with Hill and Waddle. High % route that could help timing and chemistry and he has that kind of speed like those guys that can turn those into explosive plays.
I have to disagree, have Williams run a drag route across the field and it can turn into a 60 to 70 yards foot race that he will win. Only Tyreek Hill or Brandon Cooks has the same elite speed. Jameson Williams is very rare, let's get him the ball. Nick Saban figured out how to use him, 79 receptions, 1572 yards, 20 yds/catch, 15 TDS. Johnson will figure it out too, Lions offense will become NUCLEAR.
You have LaPorta and St. Brown really working those intermediate routes. They keep taking shots with Williams so that opens up that middle of the field where Goff really excels.
