Too straight weeks of all around sloppy football. No explosive passes on offense, too many turnovers, just sloppy.
Defense has to be able to find a way to create pressure. Teams can’t run consistently, so it shouldn’t be that hard. Somehow they’re making it that way. Too many 4 man rushes.
I don't get it...the OLine was absolutely terrible but they get the free pass and it's all on Goff? I get he has his issues, but he has to trust his online and continue to look for receivers, meaning the hit while throwing fumbles are more on the oline than him...are people stupid, lazy or just hate goff?
you know, that was my gut reaction...but take out 7 (or was that the missed pat?) for a pick 6, and another 6 for terrible field position from a missed 4th down on the 20...they really only gave up 17...it felt worse because they've been giving up yards, but really, they weren't as bad as the O and let's be honest, coaching
yeah...Tom Brady is a perfect analog actually...that's how you beat him and force him into mistakes...put pressure on him...
I'm not saying Goff wasn't bad, I'm saying he was bad because the oline was terrible
The problem is Goff doesn’t struggle with pressure, it seems to break him. Hes not always gonna be clean back there and it’s gonna get rough, can’t have multiple turnovers and throw ducks. He’s also responsible for some of the pressure because he tends to hold the ball too long at times.
The knock on Goff was always that everything had to be just right for him to succeed. He had done a good job of changing that, but today that kind of came back. It looked like it was there last week, but I was impressed with the way he bounced back. Today, he didn’t, he had a bad day.
I also don’t know if it’s Goff or the play calls, but the Lions seem to be pushing the ball downfield less and less. Since that Ravens game the air yards just aren’t there(outside of Chargers game). Sometimes I think they’re too content to just keep trying to get to a 3rd and manageable and forget about how important explosive plays are.

Blame all around in this one
Defense wasn't great. Needs to be great if the offense is struggling.

Didn't watch one second of this game yesterday, which made for a very pleasant Thanksgiving. I have now watched it.
General observations: - This game reminded me a lot of the Seattle game. We actually played well enough to win, but gave them 14 pts directly off turnovers (I consider the dumb fake punt call a turnover). - Lack of a quality, big-legged kicker is killing this team right now. If we have someone who can hit the 50-55 yard kicks with decent consistency, we don't have to go for it every time we get to 4th down at the 35 yard line. The missed extra point plus two turnover on downs within a 52 yd FG range makes this a tie game. - The lack of pressure from our d-line has been a problem for 5 straight games. We cannot expect our secondary to stay in coverage for long stretches. Few secondaries can. - Our o-line looked completely lost for large portions of this game. Pass protection was really sketchy. - I thought Jacobs had pretty good coverage on several of those completions, Love was just putting the ball in really good spots. Sutton really struggled trying to cover Watson. Joseph's angles were suspect on deep balls.

Lions were way over confident going into this game and the result was that the Lions played and coached like dog shit. I think the O-line and Goff will bounce back and the defense will improve enough for them to finish the rest of the season 4-2.
They lost because they're thin (and not very talented) at OG and CB. And they attacked and exploited those weaknesses.
that's about the most accurate, succinct description I've seen...but I'd add decker getting wurq'd to it to make it complete
And let's be honest here. Penei Sewell has been kinda' coasting and doesn't have the killer instinct to be the best tackle in the NFL, which he is capable of. I'll give Decker a pass because he's not really that talented to being with.

I think lack of consistent pass rush is a bigger issue than either of those things. And isn't Rusty the one that said Jonah Jackson is JAG? Let's not forget with Jackson and Vaitai out they're already at 3rd string guard and with Sorsdal getting benched they're at 4th string. No team in the NFL has even a serviceable 3rd or 4th string OG.
