“The Lions sent out season ticket renewals for the 2024 season Monday and most seats saw a hefty increase in price,” Birkett wrote for the Detroit Free Press. “Tickets increased an average of 30%, a team spokesperson said, though multiple fans reported price increases as high as 85%.”
Obviously, this is a pretty horrible move from the team to raise season ticket prices this high after years of support from the fans, and people were not happy about it.
It’s certainly understandable that prices increased after the demand for season tickets went up, but it’s clear that people were not happy about such a drastic increase in season ticket prices.
I dont get the outrage...i mean, it sucks, but from what i understand, they havent really raised prices in 6 years or so and were one of the cheapest tics in the nfl...then you add in inflation...and rising cost of goods and employees, how could they not raise prices?

This is not true. My tickets were raised last year by $200. I find that people who don't have season tickets have the same attitude as you, Felix, which is fine. This year I paid $2850, next year it is $4150. I think it is the huge jump that was made that has people pissed. I bet if they raised it 10-20% per year for the next 3-4 years, no one cares. But doing it all at once is just rude.
I believe this is due to all the fans who basically sold their tickets (for once) for profit. I have been seeing people with $100-$120 face value tickets get $300-$400+ on the secondary market. This is just the start of the corporate takeover of season tickets, then the issuance of PSLs and then you have a stadium like Sofi in LA and is half home fans and half away fans with money.
They had been calling the season ticket holders "Lions Loyal Members", but in corporate greed and money, there is no loyalty. I will be selling my tickets that I don't go too (which is about half) at huge mark up to recoup some of this increase. And if they keep raising and I don't feel like it is worth having the tickets, I'll just get rid of them.
Of all the things that Lions fans get pissed off Rod Wood, I don't see the fan outrage toward him on this, which he is most definitely 100% the architect of this.

well, even with the increase the season tickets are likely cheaper than a lot of other teams season tickets BUT it was pretty bad raising them that much at once. they could have done it over time rather than all at once. thats the price of being a super bowl contender. expect more of the same going forward.
