I could see that one kick will probably get that guy an invite to a training camp. These guys are on contracts for their season, so maybe after June teams can sign guys.
Lions can't talk to this guy during their season and I'm sure a few teams are interested...do you roll the dice he wants to stay in the D, or do you draft a K? Or have plan C if you don't want to overpay to get an extended look at this guy? I mean, someone is likely overpaying for him, right?
problem is other teams will be after him too. matter of how much a team is willing to pay. holmes hasnt shown interest in getting into a bidding war for a kicker. as much as i would love to have him, i would be surprised if holmes gets him signed.
I'm hoping the Lions have an edge on odds to land him, simply because he is already established in Detroit. I love Dan's aggression, but no way he makes the decisions he made in the championship game, if he had any real faith in his PK.

I think I read something about Badgley working on getting stronger from 50+ this offseason and that he was hit a bunch from 50+ and a 60 yarder in OTA’s.
Obviously game situation adds something to it, but good to see it’s something he’s working on.

yeah..a d every one of Bates misses were outside...not a good look for prospects of trying out for the nfl

Better than the misses being inside.
Let's face it though - Dan Gamble doesn't want a kicker that can kick long distances. He doesn't want anything swaying his decision to go for it on 4th & 8 at the 40 yard line.
Why do I feel like Lions are about to carry two kickers?
I think Dan Gamble is more likely to carry zero kickers than two kickers. MC/DC likes having a shitty kicker to give him more of an excuse to go for it on 4th & 15 from the 35.

idk...the ability to kick a 65 yder...sounds like gambler thing to me...
2-year deal seems unusual for a kickoff specialist, especially considering the new kickoff rule. The guy had ZERO fg attempts in college. ZERO
Big leg, but only made 77% of his FG's in the UFL. This one is a real head-scratcher.
To be fair, every miss was outside...lions have 14 (I think) games inside...while I like the big leg ability, not sure I love this...seems very raw...maybe 2 yr deal because this will be a redshirt year?

Isn’t he a soccer player that just picked up kicking a few years ago? I’m sure part of this is upside. You can’t teach that kind of power, but I’m sure you can work on accuracy.
