Is The Red Zone Going on 20 years...

It seems crazy to me that this board maybe going on 20 years. I'm not sure if I signed up in 2005 but that maybe true and to think of all the vitriol that we diehard fans were able to unleash here and come to terms with and get it out of our system via rants etc from a fledgling Lions team back then is quite something. I'd have to check but 20 years for a message board is quite something. We've all enjoyed spouting passionately about the team we all love and thanks to Tech and others for keeping this site going although this site could probably move to Twitter or something by simply making up a LZ profile but I digress. Crazy. Has it been 20 years already? We were all just young pups when this thing started and I was drinking fifths by the case. Oh good times lol

Joey Harrington actually started it all.

Here are a few memories.

1. Millen's son was a member of the board under the name Chewy. Lion Nation and I called him and he told us that his Dad read the Redzone and asked us to tone it down. We went after Millen even harder after that.
2. The board when through a period of complete chaos during the days of Judge Smails.
3. I revealed that I was the notorious Dr. Z from the Lions official board. Many people said that Dr. Z was responsible the Lions closing down the official board.
4. Piggy face if a bust thread.
5. Lions attorney called me on the phone and asked us to not post about the sexual harassment case between Dominick Raiola and a server that worked in downtown Plymouth.
6. Millensucks.com was a site created by some of us at the Redzone at the same time as firemillen.com. It got so many hits that is blew up.
7. Blogs inside information from the Ritz. Lol
8. Snowdog having a mental breakdown
9. Defs bipolar girlfriend.
10. Being invited to Marc Spindlers show on WDFN to talk about the Lions Redzone.
11. Meeting Snowdog, Felix and Goldenlions at a Lions tailgate. I was amazed to find out that these internet assholes were cool guys.
12. I was banned from Lions Underground for life but got a dynamic IP address and changed my username to Techlion to throw them off. I was honored with poster of the month several times.
13. Dan Miller told Kitna to be careful what he says to me because I will post it on the Redzone.
14. Me and Slybri were sworn enemies for years and finally made up at a Lions tailgate.
15. I got in an epic fight in front of a crowd of people at the Sparky Andersons golf outing dinner with Tom Lewand over drafted Big Mike Williams.

I remember Mikhael Ricks' mom was a member and I posted something negative about him. She came at me and then also told me I spelled his name wrong (I had spelled it 'Michael'). I responded by saying SHE spelled his name wrong on his birth certificate and I never heard from her again after that. (I think Ricks might have been cut that week.)

Ah, geekchick. Those days were a tad crazy. I had just moved back to Michigan after failing in Hollywood and met her. I was going through many fifths of Scoresby a week. Getting cranked up and whooping it up, because I had no fucks left. She was good people, but kept a lot from me, Lol. I won’t get into what happened to her, other then, she remarried. One of my better decisions, to severe ties I think, but to use a quote from Donald Trump, “I wish her well.”

As stated previously, 80 proof philosophy flowed like water during this time. I was writing a book and working, then writing another and am still writing books in fact, but drinking much less. They say alcohol effects judgment and I’m living proof of that.

One day I was working on a book, cranked up on Scoresby and Tech called me. I remember how serene and calm he was on the phone. He wanted me to write a book about The Lincoln Assassination, I think. I forget his premise, but remember thinking it was interesting, then telling him, “if I can ever fit it the fuck in, I might give it a whirl.” Tech evoked common sense and calm, which was different from his Dr. Z persona online and different than my altered state of mind, which was cranked up drunk, going about 120 mph to his 55mph, so appreciate you Tech for putting up with that, lol. I forget what it was about the Lincoln Assassination that you found intriguing, or if it was even the Lincoln assassination at all…

Tech was Dr. Z and Dr. Z was an online menace that shut down the official Detroit Lions messageboard. The moderators back then were up tight and Dr. Z gave them fits. After he got banned and they shut the board down, someone said Dr. Z was starting a new website and that was how I found out about Lionsredzone. Tech started a Lions Revolution attracting the biggest die hards, pissed off mofos and fringes of society lol

I remember filming a short video about reversing the curse of Bobby Layne, but it ended up looking like The Blair Witch Project Drunk Party Version so I didn’t post it. Me, along with four other mofos and two half gallons of scotch were burning a Bobby Layne jersey and a picture of Madonna, Like a Virgin Tour era, adjacent to a corn field. Someone called the cops and fire department, so we put out the fire. They didn’t give us a ticket.

I was down for one of tailgates at Ford Field someone posted about on the site, but was having car problems. It was a 3 hour drive and an old Ford Escape with bad control arms and the back shock mount was rusted out. That jalopy was literally hell on wheels. From what we learned from the legendary tailgate, Felix can hang with the best of them, slybri passed out after the first quarter, Snowdog became a Steelers fan, and golden might be an alcoholic.

I enjoy telling stories on here, however crazy they are. I do tend to embellish for entertainment factors, GO FIGURE, a definite character flaw or maybe an attribute it's too early to tell, but appreciate everyone for putting up with it…I honestly don't remember posting many of those rants lol

That said, Marc Spindler bringing the smack down on people was a highlight. He posted in all CAPS and shut many a redzone member up.
Chewy Millen was having a rough go about all the Millen ranting lol

Matt Millen was the second targeted person of all time behind Joey blue skies check down Harrington. Nobody evoked more emotion in Lions fan than that nonchalant, easy going mofo who seemed to just be going through the motions. For how high he was drafted, he took the brunt of Lions woe.

Phalanx and other Oregon Duck fans would frequent the board and concluded that Detroit must be a city of savages. He isn’t completely wrong, but Joey was the real bust.
Was it Blog who took a piss next to Raola at the Ritz? And wasn't one of Raola's kids on Tech's kid little league team? lol

Piggy Face is a bust might be the longest thread on all of MB history and still going.

There was a lot of inside information. When the front office took people off the season ticket list, then raised the rates, there was a lot of backlash. “fuck em til next year,” was the message to fans. This sure bit them on the ass.

It was cool when real Lions signed up and spouted. There were quite a few, but the banter and arguments are always fun on the RZ. We’ve literally grown up during these years lol we trudged through Marinelli’s 0-16 season and more upset losses than humanly possible. I wrecked no less than 3 TV's lol 

A Canadian Fan always posted some of the most cerebral takes. Badnews, wombat, hunter, Sanders, signapore, felix, Texan, golden, so many great peeps on here to mention.
Getting drunk during a Lion’s game and going off on this board was always great fun. I appreciate you mofos for putting up with that lol

We had a few TLF guys here posting for a while too years ago, but I think we were a little too much for them and they were real Homer's for Millen. Overall they were cool ppl.

We kept it real for many many years of Lions Fandom.
