Losing a couple of the guys on defense sucks, but I think they can overcome it. Not sure the offense is as fine if Ragnow has to miss any significant time this year.
Ragnow, yeah that's going to hurt. Depth at backup C/OG is a big drop off compared the LB for instance.
If Ragnow misses time, my guess is they move Glasgow to center and Sorsdal or Ayahuasca (or whatever his name is) would take over at RG. I think that's manageable for a couple games, not sure about much longer than that.
Wouldn't be surprised if a few guys sit this week that maybe normally wouldn't have due to the bye coming up. I say sit Ragnow, LaPorta, Anzalone, Iffy this week giving them 2 more weeks to heal.
The only thing I don't like is Davenport may have been the one player on D that doesn't really have a true backup, well, and hutch. I think he had such a specific role that he is a bigger loss than we realize

Like BB said, they drafted Paschal for that role. He needs to show why
I’m worried about replacing Barnes. They really don’t have another SAM on the roster. They tried Campbell there for a couple games last year and it went poorly.

I would argue that Rodrigo is decent poor man's SAM replacement. While not a 3-down backer, he has proven to be a reliable tackler with better game speed than measurable foot speed.

Probably the best option, just not sure he can rush off the edge with any consistency. Could use Houston in those situations, but that makes calls more predictable.
They may just have to make some adjustments to their fronts.
This is the play Davenport got injured on. Ouch. Some people are calling it dirty - I don't see that. Looks like his arm is a toothpick.
I’ve watched it a few times. I don’t think it’s dirty, but it gets close to it. My biggest issue is the looking down as he chopped and him knowing that Davenport’s arm is locked.
he had an injury to the elbow in the past. that definately looks intentional. likely know the history and took advantage of it.he missed 4 games in 2020 because of it. and this time its a fractured elbow.

Agreed. We throw Houston in there and the opponent will just audible to a running play straight at him every time.
Also, depending on how Branch does in the concussion protocol, we could be very thin at safety as well. Branch looked like he was unconscious lying on the field.

Wonder if they'll try to use Campbell in that role?

I don’t know. They tried it last year and he really struggled. Think it was the Atlanta game.

week 3 of his rookie season is night and day different than now...that said, don't know if he would be successful there now or not, just not sure I'd use that as the reasoning

Sure, but I think it’s a skill set thing and that’s what you saw. Campbell is better off ball, that’s where he played in college and where they’ve played him since, so I don’t think throwing him in the Sam role now would change all that much.
