Not sure why Jack Campbell and James Houston were out much of the second half and Jerry Jacobs did his best Will Harris impression. Anzalone played well, Hutch is clutch, CJ is a stud, Kirby is good but something is off. Not sure what it is but something isn't right. I feel like a lot of Lions has money on Seattle to win, as crazy as that sounds.

Seattle had plenty of quick passes, but plenty where Geno sat back in pocket without any heat. Edges didn’t get home and blitzes seemed to be picked up.

yep...that's why I said last year this team needed help at DT...the one position they never addressed this offseason...

On coverage, too. You play man behind that to take away those quick routes, but they were there.

Yeah I think the play of the defense was more concerning than the loss itself. How do receivers get that open? It was evident against KC as well. I don't think AG can use the lack of talent excuse anymore. I'm not saying they are a top half of the league defense but they should be improved and they don't seem to be. And I'm sorry but Hutchinson should be a game changing pass rusher and he's just not. I get he's being double-teamed but against a back-up tackle he should be making splash plays and he only made 1 or 2 all game.
Lions need much better production from there defensive tackles on passing plays so that the ends can put more pressure on the QB. Also Hutchinson has got great footwork and should be free styling more instead of bull rushing all the time.

Edges are playing against second string OT’s. I get you want more from the DT’s, and I brought up in game thread how late Alim was off snap, but Hutch, Harris and co. have to win some of those battles. They didn’t.
Outside of Barnes, not sure I can name a single guy that stood out in a positive way. Was just a bad day all around.

well we failed on D and if you think this week was bad wait till next week. Robinson will run roughshod over our D. it wont be pretty. and like it or not GB is the team to beat in the North, again.
Very soft up the middle. Put the Buggs in and the fat ass rookie to clog the middle up. Not having Paschall hurt them. Why aren't they running the same pass rush personnel as last season? I see Hutch but why is Houston dropping in coverage and not rushing the passer????
Also wtf was with the pass coverage? Like they can't cover a TE.
The changed the defensive scheme from man under to soft zone bullshit. I hate fucking sorry zone, this always fucking happens. Just ask Dick Jauron. The safeties can't play center field like the use to. Why change the scheme when it was working second half of last season?
Also maybe Branch should not get so many looks and move CJ to nickel and Walker back at safety more.

I know PFF grades are kinda' hit and miss, but this is concerning.
Five-lowest graded defenders (with enough snaps): DL Benito Jones (35.3) DL Alim McNeill (43.8) EDGE Charles Harris (48.2) DL John Cominsky (49.9) CB Jerry Jacobs (51.2)
We did upgrade one CB spot in the off-season, which is a step in the right direction. Rolling with an injured guy at the other seems par for the course (and it's worked out SO WELL for us at other positions )
We're miles ahead at LB.
Interior D-Line continues to haunt us.
This is still a good team and the defense is a little better. I think they'll create more turnovers (I think there will be more to come on that front), and will beat other teams in the fourth quarter due to their ability to rotate fresh pass rushers (provided we don't lose them all to injury).

Those are horrible scores, but the Seahawks didn't beat the Lions on the ground. They averaged about 3 YPC and had about 80 yards rushing. Why run the ball when you have almost 80% completion % for the game. That is the concern, and they added help that secondary. So WTF is the issue?
I’d bet it was close to 50/50 between zone and man/off man. Early on it was heavy man, but when you can’t get any pressure upfront it’s hard to play man.
