I would not be sad if they took Ennis Rakestraw Jr who will end up playing that Brian Branch roll wherever he goes. He is a total Detroit guy who I bet is one of the top 3 left on their board.

Good call.
His personality and play style is a perfect fit. He’ll need to learn to dial back a bit or he’s gonna have trouble in coverage. Injury history is a little scary too.

YES! GOOD CALL. I LIKE IT!
I said it after last night that Holmes playes chess while other play checkers in the division. Holes had a good run stopping team but as Jacobes , Swift , Jones get signed He brings in Reader a top 10 DT for run and top 15 pushing the pocket. HE sees the division statcked with WR that can take the top off and he gets 3 FA and 2 DBs in the draft. And what is fun is both Arnald are just what a AC/DC Holmes player looks like.

If I was Holmes I would try to shop a player like Barnes and a 6th to get back into the 3rd. Barnes is a luxury that can be filled by Rodrigo and is on his last year and they most likely will not resign. A stacked LB room may be a luxury you could shop to a LB hungry team.

Niners take Renardo Green. Liked him a little more than Rakestraw, but he’s more a pure press man outside guy. With Arnold on board, Rakestraws flexibility is more intriguing.

When you watch Green tackle you know why they picked the other guy.

Both Iffy and Joseph are gone in the next 2 years unless resigned. This gives then flexibility not just on the field but with contracts

I didn’t see any real issues there. Bigger worry would have been he can get too handsy. Rakestraw can to. They let you get away with more downfield hand fighting and redirecting in college.
If Lions didn’t take Arnold, I’d prefer Green. But i like the idea of Rakestraw in the slot more. They have at least 4 guys they can put in the slot in different packages which will allow them to do throw so many different coverage looks at offenses.

I think Holmes & Co. are well aware of the NFL trends right now and how slot receivers are becoming just as important if not more than the outside stretch the field guys.
This also improves the safety depth which was looking like an issue.
Now just have to find a way to get another WR and some OL depth.
Right now there are FA that you could get for depth at WR like Tyler Boyd or bring back Charke..... A number of folks at Guard and tackle's to get us thru the year also like Conner Williams
Holmes said Arnold and Rakestraw were their #1 & #2 CBs on their board. Not sure I buy that.
Yeah Holmes has a way of always getting their guy. In the 5th they got their #1 WR. Half-joking.
Maybe it’s true though. Last year he said they only had 18 first round grades which was low but the first 4 guys all were in that 18. Hard to argue that with the results. So maybe he really did have Arnold and Rakestraw 1-2.

Brad has his dealing hat on today. 2nd trade up into the 4th today. First was for an absolute giant OT from BC. 6'8" 350 lbs. He and Skipper will make an interesting tandem, lol.
