I knew they were going to take Vaki. Wasn’t a more Lions player in this draft. Sounds like they’re viewing him as a RB. Maybe a kick return option too with new rule.
I know nothing of the guy from Canada other than he’s a massive and a good athlete. Giving up a 3rd is a lot, we’ll see.
Did they give the Eagles back the 4th that they gave the Lions for Swift in the Vaki trade?

Darn right about a Dan guy..... and 1st thing I thought about was the new kickoff rules. Gunner and returner.
the big ol will be a huge asset in goal line offense. hes raw but we have one of the best OL coaches in the game. will be interesting to see how he pans out. maybe a FB on goal line. LOL fridge. 2.0
He has to be doing that. I bet he has used at least next year's 3rd and both 4th round picks.
Gave up a 5th and 6th this year and a 3rd and 4th next year for the 2 trade ups. Got a 6th rounder back.
These guys better be good.
I am pretty sure the Lions should receive a 2025 3rd round compensatory pick for losing Jonah Jackson to free agency this year. That would make up for the 3rd rounder used, so after all the trades, the Lions are not in too bad of shape for 2025. I would call these moves fantastic by Holmes. Going to be interesting, I really want to see how athletic Manu actually is. I read he ran a 4.9 forty at 350 pounds. That is fast for a man that big. Vaki is a jack of all trades. Safety, RB, and special teams.
Running a 5.06 40-yard dash, Manu went on to hit a massive 33.5 inches in his vertical jump. Standing at a whopping 6-foot-7 and 352 pounds, the Lions just drafted a large ball of clay to mold.

At 6-8, 350 he ran a sub 5 40. From what I'm reading, run blocking is his strength, pass blocking is a weakness. Sounds like a RT project once Sewell moves to LT

OTC has them projected to not get any comp picks. I can’t pretend to understand the formula, but they’re good at it.
They essentially sent what should be, a late 3rd next year, for a late 4th this year. Not horrible as a 1 for 1, but he’s clearly a guy they have some expectations for.

Thanks Badnews you are right, we do not get any compensatory picks. OTC is showing free agents gained were approximately equivalent round level and exceed free agents lost. So, the Lions were a net positive free agent wise.
I just watched Vakis' 2023 Utah highlights, and this guy can contribute everywhere. He is a great football player and plays much faster than his timed 40. Runs the ball like a demon, hard to bring down and catches the ball like a WR. Playing safety, his tackles turn people into pretzels, and completely stops all forward progress. Has great tape against USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon. Great special teamer, played FB on the punt team rushed for multiple first downs during the season.
I just luv Holmes, when he finds diamonds like this in the later rounds.

Another great draft!!!! Found at least 2 starters (Arnold and Rakestraw), and 2 rotational players (eventual starters, Wingo and Mahogany) in the 6th round. With this roster that is amazing. Vaki will be everywhere.
If he's still rehabbing an ACL from 2022, that's a problem
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Possible just some long term concerns with the knee.
Seems like 9.5 times out of 10 when a guy slips like that with no real obvious reason it ends up being validated. I know fans don't like to admit it but NFL teams are privy to more information than they are.
