For a minute I though Allen was going to fall into our lap. I am not happy with a TE at No. 8, but to be fair DT (Oliver) was not a glaring need. Both Oliver and Gary underperformed in college so they was risk drafting them. Sweat has character and health issues. Personally I would have reached for Devin Bush, he was the heart of Michigan's D, and though smallish would have provided athleticism at LB in a pass happy league. TJ & JJ should help the running game and red-zone offense. Greedy, Rock Ya-Sin, Murphy still there in RD2. Draft CB in RD 2!
Check this article on TE value. Selecting a great TE in the top ten is comparable to finding an all pro RB that was an UDFA. Vernon Davis is about best TE selected in the top ten and he has only had 2 pro bowl seasons.

I don't think Hockenson will live up to draft status, if he does only one person can possibly take any credit. And we were so close to Josh Allen, that's probably mostly why I am pissed. Kind of feels like when Seattle drafted Hutchinson right before Jeff Backus....I'm sick...might have been the booze last night.
Last season we should have taken a TE in the draft with our 3rd pick for many reasons, not the least of which was that we didn't have a healthy legit NFL TE on our roster. We took Tracy Walker, 4 picks later Baltimore took Mark Andrews. He was a Mackey Award winner and was the 4th TE taken in the draft, but he wasn't even the first TE taken by his own team, they took Hayden Hurst in the first. If we take Andrews there is no way we use a first round pick on a TE this year. And anyone who thinks that they tried to get Gronk so that qualifies is an idiot, he was NEVER going to come here. They played money ball with some guys who shouldn't even be on an NFL roster and it showed, worst group of TE's in the NFL. I give them credit for what they pulled off in FA, in a way it allowed them to have this "luxury" pick. There will be plenty of options to fill our pressing needs going forward but man, what could have been.
I don't know, the whole vibe in that room was just weird. Matty P and some of the other faces looked just tense and not happy, almost like they felt they didn't feel good about the pick (just my observation). I have seen other videos of draft rooms and the staff seems enthusiastic, this room ... the word I would use is tense, I don't know, something just seems "off" about the whole thing. I would think you would see some more high fives and guys really fired up.

I honestly had the opposite impression. I got the impression they felt like they got away with something. I felt like there was a moment that Quinn and Patricia shared a shit eating grin. Patricia was acting like someone who had told the room "wait until you see his highlights" just before they ran them with his "I fuckin' told you" look when the room cheered about the Indiana block. I saw a lot of pride between them about what they had done.
I asked God for a bike, but God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike, and asked God for forgiveness.
Watching it again, there is some "uncomfortable". I honestly think it's them being human and taking a little offense to the coverage. Patricia noted at the end that coverage/a monitor had switched to basketball highlights. All of the coverage I saw was highlights, another 1st rd TE for Detroit, Gronk, Belicheck, Patriots of the midwest, Bills are on the clock.

They likely had a whole lotta thoughts of what’s next with picks. Didn’t seem awkward to me. Just minds going 100 miles an hour.
I think we all know what is going on here. The old Ford corpse wants to surround Stafford with weapons. Stafford is their bread and butter, their face of the team and this was a move to make him look better. End of story. So how old is this Ford lady? In other words, maybe she is close to dying! That said how many more OLD FORD people are in line for the job? I mean, can we get a FORD that actually wants to win? A FORD with a little blood left in their veins!!!???

In today's social media driven society, you know there are cameras on you and this will be blasted all over the world; show some fucking enthusiasm. If your not enthusiastic...fake it. What an opportunity for here for some press, the room needs to be high energy, high fives, confidence. I didnt see that in that room, I saw a bunch of unconfidence.

Def's madman ramblings above do bring up a point I hadn't considered. Martha. That war room is being expected to behave as though they are in church with grandma. This isn't the Cowboys' war room where the owner and his family are excited and high-fiving with the boys. This is a war room with a dignified elderly woman who happens to own a football team. Also, and I hate this comparison more and more, what does the Patriots war room usually look like. These guys (Quinn and Patricia) learned the game in that room.

The Ford Family is and always HAS BEEN the problem. They run the show and every GM is usually a yes kiss ass person. Stafford has his TE to pad stats and they will tow the line for whatever reason, status quo, business as usual and I can't figure out why they won't let the football people run the team. It's obvious MArtha is in charge here and that's the real madness.
