Defense gives up 30 points to an offense that runs a college scheme and has 2 plays in their playbook.
Fans complain about the QB.
Nothing new in Lions land.
It’s possible for both things to be an issue.
I don’t think Goff played horrible, but it was another game that showed his clear limitations. He was terrible in the 3rd quarter and even on the drive they scored the TD to cut it to 24-17, he threw a horrible interception and got bailed out by a penalty.
To be fair to both of them, both Goff and the defense stepped up in the 4th quarter to close it out.
He plays well enough for his offense to score 31 points with mostly practice squad receivers and average tight ends.
He hasn't been holding the team back. Can he do better? Sure. With a slightly better defense, he'd be on a playoff-bound team.

Beggars can't be choosers.
I don't think thats the argument. In fact, Lions can be choosers this draft and that is the point...
Goff is serviceable, but serviceable doesn't take it to the next level. No complaints, but CJ Stroud? Caleb? Is there a great passing/running QB out there? Jalen Hurts is killing it. A Michael Vick descendent would be sweet in the D. We've never had a flashy, good running QB and it's about time.

I'm willing to give Goff the benefit of the doubt in this one. Yes, his pocket presence/awareness is average at best. A good example of this is the sack that Sewell "gave up" in the 2nd quarter. Sewell assumed Goff would have the presence to step up in the pocket (which would be expected of any veteran QB), and so just pushed the blitzer past where Goff should have been. However, Goff never did step up into the pocket, and so took an unnecessary sack. With that said, he was absolutely working with a skeleton crew of receivers.
My question is what the hell is up with Fox? His punts were either zero hang-time line drives that gave the return man a 20-yd cushion against the coverage, or the "grounder up the middle". He has looked like crap over the past several games.
On a positive note, it is really great to see Okudah really shine. All that grueling rehab work is really paying off! Also great to see the continuing development of Hutch. Joseph is clearly experiencing the ups and downs of being a rookie, lol.

He didn’t hold them back yesterday, he had a bad stretch and he almost threw an interception that would have likely cost them the game, but still he played overall decent and came up big on that last drive.
That said, he has absolutely held them back at times this season. He is what he is, he needs perfect conditions around him and he’ll be very good. Good conditions around him and he’s solid. The second it drops below that, wheels start to come off.
And as others have said, it’s more about the opportunity to upgrade long term going forward. You could build a playoff contender around Goff, but the window is smaller and the ceiling is low of doing anything with that team in the playoffs.
