Chark, he gone. Sorry, I'm not paying him 900K for every game he plays in, esp when he caught 0, 1 or 2 in 5 of the 11 games. We had one of the top O's in the league with him and Williams riding the pines and Williams is coming back.
They're gonna be paying him $6M over the next 2 years whether they re-sign him or not (or at least that's what the cap hit will be). But I don't disagree.

I’m not a major advocate of signing Chark because of the injuries more than anything, but the offense had its worst stretch by far when he was out. His ability to stretch the field made if much easier for teams to defend the offense. Williams should be able to replicate that, but there is still some unknown to that and a better option across from him than Reynolds would help. Also make St. Brown even more difficult to cover.
Not opposed to him coming back, but have a hard time seeing the price match up.

Cap hit will be 6 million this year, but his cap hit is actually 0 in 2024, I think he just has cash accelerated from the bonus in ‘24.

OK let's remember this correctly. He played in the first 3 games, they lost 2 of them, and in the game we won he didn't have a reception. He only played exceptionally well in 2 of our 9 wins, Jags and Vikings. He had 3 TD's, 2 of them were in games we lost. The offense had it's worst stretch when we played the hardest part of the schedule. The game he came back we beat the Giants, he had 0 receptions. Look, he's hard to account for about 20-25% of the time he's actually on the field. If he's healthy all season and not nicked up I'm sure things would be different.

Yeah admittedly I don't fully understand all the pro-rated cap stuff and I still don't understand why they structured his deal the way they did, but I'm sure they had their reasons.

is his contract guaranteed against failing a physical? if not, fail him. LOL

As I said I’m not advocating signing him, but he made a difference when he was on the field beyond catching the ball.
They averaged 6 less points a game while he was out. After the Seattle game, they averaged 15 points a game over the next 5. Including 6 points in 2 weeks and being shut out in the second half by a terrible Dolphins D.
Obviously that’s not all him, St. Brown was dinged up, Swift too, and the issue is, his tendency to miss that time. But the impact of a guy that stretches the field matters. Whether it’s Chark or someone else, they need a guy that can do that beside Williams.

I’d assume they wanted space available last off-season and they were willing to take the hit this year for the flexibility last year.

LOL, well, they were 7-4 in games he played in but in 2 of those wins he had 0 catches, in 1 game he had 1 catch, and the line of crap that teams have to account for him just because he's on the field? Bull shit, they have to account for him if he's catching passes. The last game vs GB he had 3 catches for....wait for it...14 yards. He gets credit for what he actually does, that's it. If he hits a home run in FA we're up for a comp pick depending on how much we spend on other teams FA's.

No, we are not. 2023 and 2024 are void after the Superbowl.

Yeah but he will still count against the cap, which is all that matters.
