I wasn't aware that he cannot practice, attend meetings, let alone receive medical attention during the suspension
He was very average in preseason, and looks like he will miss all these beneficial reps prior to the suspension
Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams’ preseason is over because of a hamstring injury, and he’ll miss the Lions’ first six games because of a gambling suspension. Lions coach Dan Campbell wants some clarity about how the team can ensure Williams gets the medical care he needs when he’s not allowed to practice, attend team meetings or play.
Asked whether Williams can get treatment from the team while he’s suspended, Campbell said that he can’t, but also said the Lions need to find out exactly what the rules are.
“It’s a good question. Technically, no, but we’re looking into that,” Campbell said.
Williams barely played as a rookie last year because of a knee injury he suffered in the final game of his college career, and now the combination of the hamstring injury and the suspension is threatening to derail his second season. That could be a concern for a player the Lions traded up in the first round to draft, but Campbell said he believes Williams can be ready to go in the Lions’ seventh game.
“As long as he stays on top of the mental portion of it, you can get a lot out of the mental work,” Campbell said. “If he grinds on that, takes care of the hamstring, we’ll take it as it comes.”
Williams’ status is one of the biggest questions facing the Lions heading into this season

That's old news Vic.
The biggest concern about Jamo right now is what shit is he gonna get mixed up in off the field during the 6 weeks he's not allowed to be around the team. He obviously has major maturity issues and 6 weeks with nothing to do with most likely no one watching over him who knows what will happen.
I wasn't aware he could not be involved at all for those 6 weeks. Absolutely a concern what he will get into those 6 weeks, let alone if/when he comes back it will take him another several weeks to get back into the swing of things.
Lions better keep his ass in Detroit working out in some capacity and being heavily monitored.

I thought I heard somewhere that he could be involved in meetings and rehab at the facilities after 3 weeks of the season, but just can't be at practice or be at games.

Not sure why anyone want to dump him. Sure he will not have given the team anything in a 1.5 seasons, but I would like to see how he manages the 11 games he will have in the season. I am thinking he starts slow but by Thanksgiving is going to give you all the 2022 Dan Campbell turnaround.
Last year he was hurt. This year he gambled. It is what it is but to write him off already without really playing is dumb. Week 7 he will be out there and next year he will be primed. If he fucks up after this...with some dui shit or carrying a gun or some shit then yeah...dumb ass pick, but I don't see it. Maybe this drama will light that spark. He will be healed and rested by week 7 and no more excuses. Btw La Porta missed a point blank catch also. That wasn't Goff throwing. It's different when a new QB is in there and so forth plus it's preseason and one drop. Give the kid a chance to get on the field before you all want him cancelled.
I'd take a Roy Williams level right now...shit anything just get in the darn field
Roy Williams was actually pretty good. Think expectations got a little out of wack when he had that big 3rd year and he talked too much. But he shouldn’t really be lumped in with some of those guys.

He also netted them a 1st, 3rd & 6th round pick in the trade to Dallas. Of course, Mayhew & Co only turned that into Pettigrew, Derrick Williams and Aaron Brown.

Man I thought Derrick Williams was going to be good. Actually thought he’d be a lesser version of what St. Brown is now.

You can't dump him, he could have a good back end of the season. He also started a little slow in college and transferred to from Ohio State to Bama. Is is what it is, it is up to him. But he is a young kid and will mature.

i can easily see him getting in trouble while not being allowed to practice or play. dont know if the lions can assign a baby sitter to him or not. hope he grows up fast.

Tom Pelissero Verified
@tompelissero The NFL is reinstating #Lions WR Jameson Williams and #Titans OL Nicholas Petit-Frere effective Monday -- two weeks before their gambling suspensions were set to end, per sources.
