Probably not, at least at what the Lions paid for him since they were in need of a TE at the time and I don't think they pursued him (but we'll never know for sure). I do think Allen was a better talent at the time that they traded for him, but I don't think he ever got healthy after that trade.
So they traded a 4th for him and he had just signed a deal that was bigger than deal Lions gave James, he proceeded to catch 13 passes in 2 years. So let’s not pretend the Pats wouldn’t do something like signing James, who only needs to catch 7 more passes to pass Allen.
You’d rightfully be killing the Lions for a move like the Allen one, just like they should be criticized for what looks like a bad move on the James deal.

I remember being surprised when the Patriots made that trade for him, but mostly because he was already damaged goods. He was still a better talent at the time than James is/was. And the Colts absorbed some of that contract. In hindsight obviously it was a bad move.

Sounds about right.
I have never given up on anyone in the organization really quickly without giving them a chance to prove themselves, but I think I am done with Quinn and Patricia.
How do you let a solid CB/Safety who goes all out every Sunday, knowing he is injured a little, how DO YOU GIVE HIM AWAY for a 5th? Slay is pissed and he said it is all about their PC locker room. Diggs was a vocal leader, which for me it essential to have, he is passionate and they released him for this reason. Has nothing to do with football. The Lions are a fucked up organization, for letting him go. I call bullshit, esp. after seeing Will Harris back there. F em, Q.Diggs was a baller and seeing Slay tweet plays of Diggs saying he misses him, just proves this team doesn't have that winning, killer instinct right now.
And it's sad because there is so much potential there and they have played hard early this year.

Nobody cared about Diggs until he had an interception gift wrapped to him. Stop it now.
He did nothing this year and mouthed off to the coaches and/or GM so they showed him the door. This regime is doing a "it's our way or the highway" mentality. Whether right or wrong, they are sticking to their laurels. Most people in a position of power will not accept a subordinate mouthing back or questioning their decisions. That's why Diggs is gone and will be the reason Slay is gone next year.
Speaking of Diggs and Seattle, after the Vikings loss that makes all 4 NFC North teams did not have a victory against their respective NFC West opponent for the year.
And then you realize the Lions didn't lose against theirs either:
Watching that game last night in the span of about 30 seconds I heard the names Riley Reiff, Quandre Diggs, Ziggy Ansah, Ameer Abdullah and even Luke Willllllson (that he was out) being called. It was surreal. And Diggs looked like his normal self - missed tackles galore.

I saw an article suggesting that this year's NFC East is the worst division ever. We beat one of them.
I asked God for a bike, but God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike, and asked God for forgiveness.
