Perriman, Funchess, Demarcus Robinson, Ricky Seals-Jones, Daryl Williams, Shelby Harris, Nick Vigil, Logan Ryan
And here's one off the beaten path - Legatron - younger and better than Prater and Prater can be cut with minimal cap hit (or maybe they could trade him for a late pick).
Clowney..... Creative incentive laden deal Funchess.... on a make it or break it deal Suh......... on a budget deal that has incentives. He would be a rotational player now.. would be my guess Veldheer.... as depth. can play guard or tackle. He would be pretty cheap and good insurance.

How is he better? He made 73% of his FG’s last year compared to Prater who made 84% and that was considered a mildly off year for Prater. In fact Prater hasn’t kicked below 80% since 2011. For a guy known for his big leg, Prater is also significantly better from 50+ than Zuerlien..
And I don’t get the constant obsession with age, especially when talking a 32 year old kicker vs a 35 year old kicker.
This feels like a move to just make a move. The money won’t be significant enough to matter and Prater is still one of the better kickers in the game.

Fair enough, Prater has had a more consistent career. I was just throwing shit out there. I don't think Zuerlein was 100% at any point last year. When he's been healthy he's one of the better kickers I've seen. Ever. I only brought up the age thing because Prater's contract is up after this year so we might be looking for a new kicker anyway.

I get it. Im probably just scarred from the disaster moving on from Hanson that may have cost them a home playoff game in ‘14 before bringing in Prater.
To me if you have a good kicker, ride that till the wheels fall off and haven’t seen it yet from Prater.

Yeah, haven’t seen it from anyone legitimate. Could happen, but I’d guess just wishful thinking on a guy that makes sense because some of the dots connect.

So Funchess will now play the lions twice a year as a Green Bay Packer, so we can cross him off our list. We will soon see if he becomes a thorn in our side.
Again? When was the last time WR was a huge issue?
Maybe huge was too strong a word but WR has been an issue the last 2 seasons due to injuries and not having even a serviceable #3 outside guy. Jones hasn't been able to finish the last 2 seasons and I don't have much faith in him this year. And let's face it, Amendola is one big hit away from calling it a career (and I won't mention his age since you'll just say age doesn't matter with smallish white slot receivers).
For only 6 to 8 million and only one year, surprised the Lions didn't make a play. They need someone to stretch the field
I think after the Darius Slay comments last week. Patricia has a PR problem and guys are not really going to be willing to sign here unless it is a last resort. Sucks, but just reality.

I think you need to look at some other WR groups around the league if you think the Lions have had big issues. They did at the end of ‘18 when they clearly didn’t care if guys were playing, but teams roster 5 to 6 WR’s tops and dress 4. The Lions haven’t had real issue there.
They need to sign Golladay and look for guys for future, but this is perfect draft for that.
Perriman will end up being highly sought after in 2021. Should work out well for him barring injury.
WR will be a huge issue again for this team barring a draft miracle.

Golladay and Jones are both guys that stretch the field. They need someone that can create separation in the short and intermediate. Perriman is more in the mold of Golladay and Jones. I also hesitate because the majority of his production came in last few weeks against horrible D’s with no one to compete with. He’s a got a lot of talent, but injuries and consistency have never been there.

I'm sure there are teams in worse shape. I just feel like the last few years the guys we have had after the top 3 have been guys that are even borderline NFL players, so when one guy goes down (which you know, always happens), you're looking at a guy who doesn't even belong in the NFL getting regular snaps. I'm talking the TJ Jones and Andre Roberts of the world.
But yeah, they really need to extend Golladay, and I would do it now since his price will likely go up after this season.

I think the vast majority of teams are in the position your putting the Lions in. Just look at the NFC North. What did GB have after Adams? Look at the Bears? After Diggs and Theilen were the Vikings in a better spot? They sure aren’t now. That’s just within the division. That’s ignoring some teams with just piss poor WR situations like New England, Philly.
There’s some really bad WR depth charts out there, the Lions haven’t had one for quite a while.
