Being many of us have known each other going on 15 years or so, just wanted to check in with everybody to see how we are all doing with the current Pandemic
I'm here in Michigan and it's getting a little crazy, hospitals are running out of supplies and ventilators. Not to get political, but this is fucked up.
Thankfully the Turner family has stayed safe and are doing well, wife and kids are on lock down and practicing social distancing. So far so good.
I can stay safe, just like everyone else super concerned about the economy. I know Tech and Felix are in the restaurant business, I hope you guys are doing ok. I hope everybody stays safe and can keep theirs heads above water right now!

It's a very strange time, that's for sure. I feel horrible for the small businesses that can't stay open or have very limited revenue due to the virus. I know the restaurants in my area are doing carry out but it's probably barely keeping the lights on. I can't believe some states still haven't mandated staying at home.
Unfortunately the economical ramifications of this whole event will probably be worse than the virus itself (and the virus is really bad).

My wife and I both fall under essential, so we’re still working which is good. Learned after first week to really try and take it one day at a time and not worry about anything too far ahead.
Also more confirmation that people that home school their kids are crazy.

I work from home regardless of the virus so not much has changed for me but my wife can't work now (which is fine). My biggest stress is my 16 year old daughter works for a retirement home so still goes into work part time 5 days/week. Luckily so far our area hasn't been hit much but I'm sure that will change.
Was on one of the last flights out of Cancun a week and a half ago on a Monday. Only 1/3 full and when we landed at O'Hare we were the only flight going thru customs. Got our bags and were on the road at 5pm, on a Monday, normally rush hour. Almost no traffic, it was like the whole scene should have been a black and white "Twilight Zone" episode, just surreal. Moved to a small town in Iowa a year and a half ago, the town where my wife grew up. She's the city manager so it's an essential job, plus she six years younger than me and wants to work past retirement age so we're not wanting for much. I went on SS and have been working part time bartending at a local community theater just to get out of the house, they're closed so I'm back to working on my house that turns 100 this year, it's a Sears house. I also have a cabinet business that is shut down until this is over but I work out of the house and we have no bills, everything is paid for. I can only make a little over $17,000 a year on SS so no big deal. We stay in touch with our daughters, one works as an administrator in the Denver school system. The other one isn't as lucky, she manages a hi end hair salon so she's not going back to work anytime soon. If any of you want to make some huge bucks learn how to dye hair because every woman over 30 in this country is going to be in line when this thing is over. Anyway, we'll be giving her our checks to help her out but she may have to move back in with us which would put her 45 minutes away from work instead of 5. We love her to death but she's a drama queen and we don't need it so there's that. Only 4 cases and 1 death in our county, people are more or less taking it seriously. I did have to go to Iowa City to buy wine because the wife doesn't like the selection at or local store. Other then that I have been "physical distancing", a term I heard and like better. Going to be doing some landscaping today, and one side of the house needs to be scraped and painted so I've got plenty to do. Also have a 340 sq ft room above my garage that used to be a hay loft that I'll be finishing. This isn't shit that I like to do but can do and hiring people around here is tough. In the end it makes it easier when I go on fishing trips to Wyoming and Montana w/o her. Also going to Argentina in October w/o her if this shit is over by then, bought my ticket in November. Anyway, hunker down brothers, this shit is real and we may be in for a long run. Stay safe everybody.

I work in the medical field, so I am still working fully. But we have had to adjust our normal shifts and working longer hours each day to spend fewer days at work. My area has not been hit very hard as I think we have done a good deal of keeping people from spreading it as much and helping people who have it recover and get it detected early on. I am in a medium sized city (~150,000 people) and went to the store today and the traffic looked like an early Sunday morning, not a mid-morning on a Thursday.
I think we have a few more weeks of bad numbers and then get better. I am also in the belief that there is a possibility that millions of people have already had and recovered from this and they don't really know it. Every human is different, every person has a different threshold for infection and transmission.
Stay safe, stay home if you can, help those most vulnerable.

Thanks for taking the front lines, a true soldier on another front for real. I have heard some hospitals are swamped and others are awaiting a lot of cases. Always wear a mask and stay safe brother!

Yeah, much respect Golden.
I agree the numbers are actually way higher. I personally know of a family of 5 that all had it, but only one of them got tested.
I've heard some nurses talking in the hospital where I work (Michigan) and they said this stuff has already been here since November. They were talking about all the flu-like cases that were respiratory issues and many ended up in ICU. This shit has been hidden from us for a while. You can't tell me that many people were infected in China last November and nobody traveled to Michigan until March?
Continued prayers for all and especially those on the front line.
I'm open for take-out at all of my restaurants. I'm not making any money but my customers are grateful that we are open and it keeps some of my employees working. I'll be fine because I don't have any debt, own my buildings and have money saved. As for my family, they are all very busy with school work, home internships and training.
I always make the best out of any situation and try never to have a bad day. I keep busy with many different projects, playing basketball with my boys, watching movies, playing online poker tournaments with my friends. I watched the new season of Curb your Enthusiasm 3 times.
I noticed that many people I know are struggling mentally right now. I worry about owners of small businesses and are thankful for people like Golden.
I don't know what's going to happen with the economy in the future. Will we have hyper inflation? Do I get into the stock market? Not sure because I don't think things will be quite the same for a long time.
I’m in Minnesota. Wife works from home, I’m on SS. planned on getting a job but pandemic mightvmake my retirement permanent. Getting by. Need to pay bills down. But we’re healthy and safe. Moving to Arizona in fall.

Good on you Tech, you're a smart business owner. That's why I don't think the airline industry should get bailed out. They should have been prepared for a situation like this. Let them fail and come back stronger with better management.

Thank you Maestro for your service to Detroit. Maybe one day I can sit at a poker table with you, but I agree. Things seem like it will be different. This is an attack on our way of life. The economy is sunk during an election year. I fret how much longer Americans can sit still. I truly feel Dems can't beat Trump right now and will do ANYTHING to regain power. This puts us in our place. They are burning it all down to come in and claim to be the saviors. It's bullshit. That said, you make Detroit a great city and hopefully we can get back to where we were. I just try to entertain these days. Have some book stuff happening, but now on hold. I did get a book deal for 2 books, both on Amazon and other sites. All the best everyone, the LIONS will win a SB in our lifetimes. DAMN IT lol

A few guys I know have tournaments every week at pokerstars under home games. We send them the money for the buy-in by using venmo. I also occasionally play for real money at Bovada.

Anything can happen but I can't imagine Trump winning in November.
I work in the food processing industry so my day to day hasn't changed much as it is considered an essential industry, more than anything I am amused at the prevalence of statistics that few understand and we are not being told the truth this will become like influenza A & B you cant put the genie back in the bottle, that and how this highlights the complete dysfunction of the national, state and local health systems, the fact that doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals are facing a lack of PPE and are being threatened if they speak out is criminal.
I doubt martial law for the virus itself but martial law due to the economic repercussions I think is possible, for a global economy based on consumption this is crazy there are a lot of dominos yet to fall just from measures taken so far.
