Hooker blew out his ACL and will not play next year.
Perfect draft and stash guy. Without the injury, he would have probably been the #1 QB, but with his age and need to sit out, most of the top teams ain't taking the chance. Wouldn't mind if he made it to one of the 2nd round picks.

I was being a smartass, but yes he still almost won the hiesman trophy while being injured. Plus it is not a pressure draft pick for Goff this season.
one good point made in Q and A on mlive for drafting a QB early is Detroit might not be in position to draft this high again for years. that point is very valid and i do think Holmes will pull the trigger on a QB in the first round and could even possibly trade up to get one. i just hope to hell it isnt Stroud. While Goff played lights out last 10 games last year whats gonna happen if Johnson gets a HC job after this coming season. we need a Goff replacement this year. if Goff falls apart under the pressure of having a high pick sitting in waiting then so be it.

I've been saying that on here all offseason.
not a good argument...if you are ending up with the 4th qb and are taking one just to take one because it may be your last top 10 pick...stupid reason...if you are only a qb away, you can trade away a draft to move up and get one in the future...dumb argument, sorry....

I have zero interest in Stroud
That system at OSU does not translate well into the NFL
C.J. Stroud also has visits with the #Colts (4) and #Lions (6) later this week.

You're not wrong when looking at it from that perspective, but what if that "4th QB" is the next Mahomes, Herbert, Watson, Hurts, Allen, etc who generally weren't considered the top guys of their draft class?
Based on your argument though maybe they should trade up THIS year to get Young, Stroud or Richardson. Trading up next year might not be so easy. You have to assume there will be two teams in the top 3 or 4 that desperately need a QB and won't be willing to give up the pick and/or won't be willing to move back very much. And next year's QB draft class isn't looking like it will be anything special outside of the top 1-2 guys (I know that can change).

If you’re worried about systems, then you should have no interest Hendon Hooker.

The point wasnt to draft one just because you might not be drafting high again. the point was if any of the first round QBs fit your needs then draft one. dont draft one just to draft one. 3 QBs who would be good fits hooker, young, richardson.

based on my argument? I don't think they should take a QB, so not sure how my argument means they should trade up for one. So using your words...what if the 4th QB in a future draft is Brees (2nd round), or Rodgers (the 2nd QB taken...in the 20s)? Seems there are lots of examples where they can still get a good QB in the future if they need to, even if drafting late....but let's be honest...if you NEED at QB, you probably aren't drafting so late you cant get that 4th guy.....

Jalen Carter and Joey Porter Jr would be a great first round at this point. Whether Jalen pans out is another question but high risk high reward there. Or...bijan in the first with Tyree is a CB is taken in the second would be nice too. Whatever you way we slice it, we should have great players with great potential here. Just no mayer TE bullshit plz
I want washington from georgia. monster TE. like drafting another OL.
7ft 3 wing span. monster hands.
Literally, any free agent TE with 40 catches for their career if just as good if not BETTER than any college TE coming in. Everyone talked about how that last long haired dude from Iowa was amazing, well, that didn't last long. Stop the insanity. NO TE before the 3rd round. Ok, I think I made my point on this one.
That whole, "contact prior the throw" that didn't get called at like 43 seconds. happens ALL THE TIME with Witherspoon. He won't get away with that "handsy" style in the NFL.

Yes, but when the ball is in the air he has elite ball skills and can also play the run.

I sincerely hope the Lions don't draft a DB @ #6. Hopefully the "Okudah hangover" will still be in effect. In essence we traded the overall #3 pick for a 5th rounder. Thats not how I would envision a winning franchise to try to put together a contender. I do remember all the accolades Okudah was getting...yeah he got injured...but I strongly opposed picking a DB that early. Stick with the big boys or a QB if you need one. I don't think we need to draft a QB in the early rounds either. But considering recent events that have unfolded, probably should take a flyer on a mid-round WR.
