I sincerely hope the Lions don't draft a DB @ #6. Hopefully the "Okudah hangover" will still be in effect. In essence we traded the overall #3 pick for a 5th rounder. Thats not how I would envision a winning franchise to try to put together a contender. I do remember all the accolades Okudah was getting...yeah he got injured...but I strongly opposed picking a DB that early. Stick with the big boys or a QB if you need one. I don't think we need to draft a QB in the early rounds either. But considering recent events that have unfolded, probably should take a flyer on a mid-round WR.
If you could draft Jalen Ramsey with the #6 pick, would you?
Not saying Witherspoon will be Ramsey, but there are guys who become really good and you can't be afraid of drafting a player at a position because another GM drafted a player in that position high in the draft and it didn't work out. I wouldn't draft a CB at #6 mainly because the positional value just isn't there. But I would also draft the best CB vs. the 3rd best DE in the draft. Just acquire talent.
Personally, I won't really care who they draft at #6, it's going to be a consensus top 10-15 regardless because there is a chance that they will draft someone might not actually an immediate starter because of the current depth the Lions have.

There really is no way to "insure" that a DB pick, or any pick for that matter will end up performing like a Jalen Ramsey. Supposedly Okudah was that guy. Back in the day the Lions drafted a DB @ #5 named Bryant Westbrook. He was ok until he blew out his Achilles. I tend to think that early picks in the top 10 should go towards the bigger guys. OL/DL, Edge Rushers if they are there. Of course you don't want to reach for one of these types. QB's, DB's, WR's are risky as top 10 picks. But if you do hit on one of these then it's great. But it is risky. Injuries are the unpredictable factor IMO. Bigger guys tend to be more durable. If the lions were to pick a DB @ #6 and for whatever reason he becomes a bust. Then you have to wonder what if. I'm sure the wonder police are using their 20/20 hindsight to look back at the Players taken after Okudah....especially the bigger guys and see how their careers fared.

Injury can happen to anyone at anytime, can't draft with injury worries in mind. Not a reason to not take a chance on a guy that could help your team.
But like I said, CB is not good value in the top 10. Especially since I think they can get one at 18 if needed.
But I would like for the Lions to actually draft a guy that most people think is just a guy and turns out to be a superstar.

There’s Dee Millner or Justin Gilbert, then there’s Sauce and Surtain. There’s the Bosa’s or Quinnen Williams, then there’s Solomon Thomas or Clelin Ferrell. Plenty of bad picks of both. Just trust your evaluation and take the top guy on your board when the pick is up. What happened with Okudah should mean nothing to them, especially since this group didn’t even draft him.

I agree on Anderson and Carter, they will be gone.
I think the Lions would love to move down a few pegs to justify drafting Witherspoon. Not sure they will take a QB, I know some Lions fans love a couple of these QBs, but I just don't.
i think holmes will trade up after 6 to grab someone. he likes trading up. could even trade up to grab carter or throw us a curve and trade up for a QB. nothing would surprise me. hell he almost traded up to draft OzWurksie.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade up to Arizona's #3 pick if the first two picks go QB, QB.

Who would you pick in that situation?
if Holmes trades up for a QB i would go with Richardson.
Paris Johnson i would be ok with also, cant have too many OL.
DL is deep so no need to trade up for that, and not even Carter IMO.
i like our defensive backs. we can get a veteran after cuts after the draft for depth. evwn though we had some one year deals we can always extend them later.
I think if they trade up to 3 it would be for Will Anderson. Arguably the best (and safest) player in the draft.
I dunno, I really don't see any slam dunks this draft. Maybe it's just me but this draft is the most uncertain as far as the mocks I have seen. That tells me the there really isnt a top 10-20 players that much above the rest.

I think that's just because there are so many varying opinions on the quarterbacks and who will take one. Will Anderson would have been the #1 overall pick in last year's draft had he come out and he didn't do anything in the 2022 season to hurt his stock. While there's no such thing as a slam dunk, Anderson is the closest thing to one in this draft.

I would think it would be for Anderson. I don't have any idea what the Lions' big board looks like. However, based on the last two years of drafts they're pretty solid with talent evaluation. If Anderson is head and shoulders above everyone else on their board, then they have the ammunition to jump up and grab him this year.

Anderson ain't a slam dunk like Hutch
I am going to throw out the old "trade down" cliche', if they get a call to trade out of 6 I would do it.
Some revisionist history with Hutch. He was considered a high floor guy that didn’t have the huge ceiling. Anderson was considered a better prospect. I actually think it’s similar to Walker last year. Wilson is the huge ceiling, Anderson is more of the high floor.
