Walker is a quality starter. Just have to be comfortable with where he is coming back from the Achilles. So be good to have depth behind him. Elliot would be ideal, but I’d guess he’s played himself into a contract that would make it hard for Lions to bring him back.
Thing is, Dave Sears was doing a good job when Quinn was here, so he deserves the promotion.
How do you know that? Not disagreeing, just not sure how you could really know that unless you're inside the walls. He was with the Lions since 2007, which means he was there for some pretty horrific drafts. Though he survived the transition to Holmes & Co so I guess that says something.
Sears became College Director in 2019. Quinn had two pretty good drafts in 2019 and 2020. Then his influence in 2021 and 2022 drafts helped Holmes to 2 more good drafts. Based my above statement on these results is all.
#Lions OC Ben Johnson informed interested teams he’s staying in Detroit, per sources.
Johnson was slated to travel Wednesday to interview with the #Panthers. But he feels Detroit is building something special and wants to see it through. Should be a hot HC name again next year.
This is great news! I mean really really good news!!! Good decision BJ!
man...just look at his genius...he dodged a bullet not going to carolina

Yeah I was thinking about that this morning and wondered if things would have been different in Carolina if he was there.
Maybe we would have been better off if he went to Carolina and got fired so we could have hired him back as OC and kept him longer.

Man, this is not the year to want to keep your coordinators. 8 vacancies with possibly more to come. At this point I think the only way BJ stays is if he really wants to. In the end I'm sure money/promotion win out (and I wouldn't blame him).

I think Dan Campbell would be better for a major college program. He would make a natural recruiter. And his aggressive, go-for-it / trick play mentality would play out better on that stage.
And Ben would be the natural fit as HC of the Lions. He's more of a cerebral guy and works with his players' strengths. Let Chris Spielman take on more of a role in the culture-shaping. I think he's kind of been the catalyst towards the culture reshaping anyway, in more of a behind-the-scenes way. Keep up the "former player as coach" thing, because that's what the organization's identity is.

So the guy who in less than 3 years has completely changed the culture of the team, has players wanting to play for him (even from outside the organization), who the fans and media love, has gotten even non-fans to not consider them the laughing-stock they have been for 60+ years, and has brought them their first division title in 30 years is better suited for college? Got it.
The guy should have a fukkin statue next to the fist.

Strictly in terms of the coaching staff, Ben Jonson is the one most responsible for the resurgence, because he near single-handedly revived Jarred Goff's career and designed an offense around his strengths, rather than shoe-horning him in to one like McVay did.
It certainly wasn't the defense, or Dan Campbell's "Rah Rah! Knee Cap! Go culture!"
Or his crying in every interview.
That all just makes for a good documentary.

He certainly gets a lot of the credit. There have been times when the offense has played like shit too. I have been a critic of AG at times, I will say he has done a great job the second half of the season and dialed him the sceme a lot better. He is getting some of these guys to play especially with the injuries we have had. And Fipp, we have some pretty good special teams here. In the NFL you need all 3 phases playing at a high level to have success. You also cannot discount culture. That is big!

No offense but Proboards blows. Worst platform out there. But thanks for the info, appreciate it. Still can't figure out how to copy and paste on mobile. No gifs here....I hate this hosting site.
