Lots of possible scenarios but looking like either LA or GB. I don't want either one. I think if Dallas & Philly lose and Seattle wins they move up to the 2 seed and would play Seattle.
I think it was Shannon Sharpe on his podcast with Ochocinco (did I spell that right? lol) Shannon said one ref at a precise time can change the outcome of a game. It doesn't take a lot of people, just one ref at a precise moment. This hit home. I think many of us are used to this sort of thing, a ref changing the outcome of a game, whether it be something that was said to him to increase drama and TV ratings moving forward. Is money involved? That has happened I'm sure. I'm not upset or screaming to the heavens here, it is what it is, but when we think back...The GB - Rodgers drive and all the holding or hands to the face penalties that last drive on Trey Flowers. The Golden Tate reception against ATL at the end of the game, where they reversed the TD, then instead of putting that extra 6 seconds back on the clock, they just ran it out. Instant L, yeah that game still chaps my ass. The Pittgrew PI, the Texans RB that hit a knee, but kept on trucking to the endzone, the process of the catch at the end of the game, these were all intregal to the outcome, in fact most of these penalties were at the very end, where if one would fix something, something would have to be done.
What gets my goat, though I don't have farm animals, is the flag was thrown a good 30 SECONDS after the conversion was successful. I timed it. It was almost as if the refs got together and said, "it can't end like this, what can we call?" Just my "conspiracy" mind maybe, but I prefer to think of that as simply a bullshit detector. I think mine is usually on a high setting just by default.
If Skipper didn't say a word, I think they used the deliberate orchestrated confusion by coach to create a little confusion of their own. It was Dallas' day and this is concerning moving forward. What if we get into the playoffs and this shit keeps happening? (knock on wood)
Big markets. TV ratings and all that. Whatever the case, at least we're in there.
And CF, appreciate the kind words buddy, that might be the first time I've ever been called "beloved" haha
Such an odd take from an odd dude. The "cute" was the whole Fukkin point. Of course they were trying to confuse the defense. What would be the point of blatantly reporting Decker without some type of disguise and make it completely obvious where everyone on the field knows it's a pass to Decker? Teams do this shit all the time and as has been mentioned, they give the officials a heads-up in pre-game. The whole reason they declared Skipper eligible a few times prior throughout the game was setting up that play.
I suppose the argument could be made that had the official done what he was supposed to do and announced Decker instead of Skipper to the defense, Decker wouldn't have been that open.

Gee, ya think?
Sounds like Skipper only reported once in the game before this play. But I also heard that it was so loud in the stadium that nobody could hear the announcement. But it was easily picked up by microphone up by the speakers.
They could have still got the play off as designed. Since Decker did appear to be just blocking for a hot second and I am sure the DBs were more concerned with the WR and TEs at the time and not an eligible lineman.
The ref fucked up and they lost. Plain and simple. But the denial by the NFL is probably the dumbest part of this.
And how could the lowly Lions spoil Jimmy Johnson night. And the love fest of them showing the entire speeches on the broadcast when a majority of the viewing public didn’t give 2 shits about this guy who coached for the Cowboys for 5 years albeit won 2 super bowls and had a spat with the owner who wouldn’t induct him into their ring of honor until like 30 years later.

They’ve run eligible lineman plays before successfully, including to Decker, when the opposing team was told. Maybe the Cowboys cover Decker, maybe they don’t. Maybe that defender that goes with Decker opens up something else. We’ll never know though because Allen fucked it up.

It should have never come down to this in the first place. Because bonehead should have just called a normal play. You know, maybe consider throwing the ball to an actual receiver who practices catching balls all day. lol. Call me crazy.

It worked. When they called a normal play after, it didn’t.

Of course it didn't. How can you even concentrate after that clusterfuck of a mess??
Not just the crowd noise, but all of the chants of "WTF Just Happened," and "This is some serious BS" running through your head. How do you even concentrate on the play?

Be professional football players? They had a chance to get the 2 two plays after, Goff missed the throw.

9 times out of 10, he makes that throw. It was by far the better play to call.
9.9K times out of 1 million, the official doesn't have to. Because literally no team is dumb enough to run such a dumb play.
Devin McCourty said Belichick used to do it all the time when he played there.
He did.
I saw a film guy show that was almost exactly like the play GB ran against Detroit last year, it was supposed to go to Bakhtiari and Rodgers underthrew it and Hutchinson picked it off

That often happens when you try to throw the ball to a guy who's never run a receiving route in his life time.
